there's a big section on jesus in my 6th grader's world history book. he's atheist, and feels uncomfortable learning about it. i explained to him that they aren't teaching religion, but history, but then i began to wonder how much of it really IS history...

Meaning when you were deep in thought one day about your specific beliefs and all of a sudden it all seemed to make sense, the "Aha! moment" if you will. What caused you to have your breakthrough?

Was it an experience that solidified your current beliefs?

Or did you change your beliefs after that moment (and what were your beliefs before that)?

Thanks in prior for your answers

I'm wondering if the time committment required in this particular parish is standard because it seems like a lot. The ask you to attend mass, then the RCIA class, then complete the assigned reading and attend another mass on Sundays. They also want you to meet independently with your sponsor and attend an occasional off-site retreat (which I think is a day or half day). This is a much bigger time committment than I was expecting. Is this normal or would I be able to find another church that does not require so much? I'm just concerned it will interfere with my job as I would already be missing work just to go to the classes.
Also, the RCIA class is discussion based. How much participation is required or expected because I don't like speaking in front of large groups (there are 15 people).

What has happened in the past 50 years or so that has begun to discredit the beliefs of Christians and their faith? As I view these questions and answers it seems to me there is an increase in expressed disatisfaction with Christianity and what it stands for, or at least a lack of respect or understanding. What has changed in the past few decades to precipitate these negative responses?

What was the driving force which motivated Mary to follow Jesus so closely everyday ?
Through the better part of his ministry and all the way to the cross she was at his side. Even at his mothers side as I understand it.

And how do we as individuals find that quality of loyalty within ourselves ?

Tell me what it is that causes "you " to love Jesus the way "you do "

that proves, this almighty persona is real. I have never seen a question or an answer from the one that sits up high.
I'm of the opinion it is one of the same people that judge my often innocent questions or answers worthy of a violation notice.
Has anyone here had direct contact with this legendary, yet elusive guru?

He has asked everyone to prove God exists. I happen to challenge him and he pulls his question. I think he does not want people to know that the Bible was written before 403 A.D as he claims and he will not answer my questions as to who wrote the pentatauch and when it was written. It is people like this that chicken out of their questions that make it good to stand behind your beliefs. Anyway, doesn't it bother you when people pull their questions?

Fallen is from hand to hands: Hebrews 10:31
(Allegory: from grace to law vs law)

I am searching for material on spirits, rituals, myths and songlines. More specifically, books or websites that deal with the beliefs of inner Sydney's former owners. I believe these are the Cadigal, Darug or Eora people (I'm uncertain which are considered the traditional owners). I'm not interested in the beliefs of other Aboriginal peoples.

There appears to be a complete absence of such information on the internet. Your help would be much appreciated.

What about those that suffered A LOT more and who's circumstances have yet to change? Are some people more important to jebuz than others? Is belief really that important when some people probably never heard much about him?

It's this crazy belief that says people should be nice to each other. It works out good for you, cause you are a person.

Am I missing something? Do you really need the presence of a "magical" being to justify doing the right thing.

2. Search for answers in ancient mythology, crazy superstitions and arcane texts.
