I'm a Catholic, so I'm in the church that Jesus established.
The word "Catholic" means universal. Jesus created one universal church for all of mankind. The Catholic Church was established by Jesus with his words spoken in Matthew 16. Jesus asked his disciples "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?"
The disciples then offered various answers - "Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets." But the question that Jesus then asked was crucial: "But who do YOU say that I am?"
The answer provided by Simon Peter set in motion the formation of the Catholic Church by Jesus. "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God." With this answer, Jesus established the Catholic Church with Simon Peter designated the first Pope.
"Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

Christian
Member of the Churches of Christ.
The Church of Christ believes that it is practicing the same as in the 1st Century from the Day of Pentacost (Acts 2) when the Church was first established. Its goal is to follow only the Bible and accept no man-made creeds or "modernizations" to the Christian religion. However, the Churches of Christ really only date back to the 1700's when Alexander Cambell made a "restoration movement" in the U.S. This means that he was "restoring" the way the church was in the times of the 1st Christians. Some people believe that the Church of Christ is the same church that was meeting in the 1st Century, but then had to go in hiding because the Catholic Church forbid other sects for such a long time. I have found very little evidence to support this, but it could be true I guess.
So, in other words. Christ founded my church. But, it's really up to you to decide what that even means.

As a Roman Catholic, i've got continually discovered considering i grew to become right into a newborn that interior the form there grew to become into no Roman Catholic Church to attend i ought to flow to an jap Church and meet the comparable responsibilities. So particular on your question, however the jap Church does not regard the Pope by way of fact the pinnacle of their church. Make experience? in simple terms extra human beings interior the background of mankind looking yet differently on a thank you to not get alongside with one yet another. don't get me incorrect. there have been undesirable Popes and the Crusades, etc. etc. etc. The Church is run by capacity of human beings and can and have made many errors, yet many threw the toddler out with the bathwater.

Jesus Christ founded one church, which was called the Catholic Church as early as 100 AD by Ignatius of Antioc. The Protestant and non-denominational churches either split from the Catholic church or were started by someone long after Jesus Christ ascended into heaven. Historically, they were NOT founded by Jesus Christ though they may truthfull say that they follow Jesus Christ and may righfully be said to be members of the Church, though not in full communion with the Catholic Church.
As the Catechism of teh Catholic Church puts it:
"The Church knows that she is joined in many ways to the baptized who are honored by the name of Christian, but do not profess the Catholic faith in its entirety or have not preserved unity or communion under the successor of Peter." Those "who believe in Christ and have been properly baptized are put in a certain, although imperfect, communion with the Catholic Church."
