Obvious lack of biblical knowledge diplayed here!!! Mary of Magdalene was not a prostitute...that is a misnomer illistraited in many teachings of the gospel accounts but the gospel accounts as they are written in the Bible never say anything remotely about Mary of Magdalene being a prostitute...examine the scriptures below...
Mark 16:9
Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.
Luke 8:2
And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,
She was probably an older woman, widowed with money of her own because she was a supporter of the ministry of Christ. She probably traveled distances to be healed of the seven demons...
Given the culture at the time..if she were a young woman without means she would not have been able to travel alone. If she were married her husband was not mentioned but as she was a woman of property she probably inherited from a husband deceased. If Mary of Magdalene had been a prostitute she wouldn't have had the means to support herself without continuing in that profession.
Either way..She is never once described as a prostitute. However, she was desperate, I'm sure being plagued by 7 evil spirits. Anyone who see such power and love would have to be devoted to it. Mary had a true disciples spirit and perhaps an understanding or a nurturing heart toward Jesus.
I wish I had Mary's quality of loyalty and devotion...I stay in the Word of God hoping to attain it. Its all I care about really because what good am I to may family, my kids, friend or anyone without Christ. I love Jesus the way I do because He has sanctified me and led me back to His side again and again when I would stupidly have gone my own way. I have far to go but I want so much to know Him better and now, in my life, I finally feel that I'm in a place that I cannot be moved from. This is it...maybe Mary knew that too in her advanced age...once you have the truth..where else can you go? Back out in the cold, to a siberian landscape of lies and hopelessness? No..I prefer the warmth of the blanketing pages of the Good Book. Love in Christ, ~J~

Hello there sister Bethy:) There are at least 6 Mary's in the New Testament... The first Mary is the mother of the Lord Jesus and the second Mary is the sister of Lazarus. It was this Mary who anointed the Lord before His death. She also sat at the Lord's feet. Its interesting but in the gospel of luke she was referred to as " a woman" There was only one person in the whole new testament that stole the opportunity to anoint the Lord. So this " woman" has to be Mary, the sister or Martha and Lazarus. It may be that the brothers writing these accounts after the fact were not lead to divulge this sister's name but called her" a woman' since the bible called her " a sinner". The third Mary is Mary Magdalene, out of whom seven demons were cast. While the Lord Jesus was dying on the cross a few sisters were standing there with Him. Among those sisters, there were two Marys. One was Mary Magdalene, and the Gospel of John tells us that the other Mary was the wife of Clopas and the mother of James the less and Joseph (John 19:25). This fourth Mary, with the other sisters, saw the death of Christ and also went with Mary Magdalene to the sepulcher on the morning of the resurrection (Matt. 28:1). The Gospel of John only mentions that Mary Magdalene went there, but the other Gospels tell us that there was another Mary (Mark 16:1; Luke 24:10). She is the fourth Mary. The fifth Mary was the mother of John Mark. In Acts 12:12, after Peter was released from prison, he went to Mary’s home, where many saints were gathered together praying. The sixth Mary is in Romans 16:6. Here Paul said to greet the Mary who labored for the church. Hope these references help and clarify some more for you. It helped me quite a bit:) In Christ sandy

Technically Mary was not ever a prostitute, it is only in the newer translations that the word prostitute is used and even then it is not frequent....
"Mary Magdalene is mentioned in all four of the canonical gospels, but nowhere is she described as a prostitute. This popular image of Mary comes from confusion between here and two other women: Martha’s sister Mary and an unnamed sinner in Luke’s gospel (7:36-50). Both of these women wash Jesus’ feet with their hair."

First of all, there is no record in the Bible that Mary Magdalene was a prostitute. That was a myth perpetuated by the Catholic church. She did, however, have 7 demons which Jesus drove out from her. And that may provide the clue for your first 2 questions, other than the obvious reason which is that she recognized the Son of God and couldn't stay away from Him.
As for us, we can't possibly have that kind of loyalty because He is no longer walking the face of the earth, but lives inside of all believers in the person of the Holy Spirit. The man, Jesus, ascended to Heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father to this day. However, I know several Christians who have followed Him and His teachings since the day they were saved without so much as one single backslide. Personally, I went through a period of backsliding before He brought me back. Though I never stopped believing in Him, I did not *walk* with Him non-stop since the day I was saved.
I love Jesus for so many reasons, not the least of which is He saved my soul and gave me eternal life. But how could I not love Someone who always tells me the truth? He is the Truth, in fact. Plus, He is my Teacher, my Counselor, my Help when I'm afraid, and so much more that there isn't room to list it all here. But, I love Him because He first loved me, for real. Peace.

1.Jesus did not condemn her, HE forgave her.
2. She knew in her soul that HE was (IS) the only way to Salvation. She loved HIM and was Thankful for the Forgiveness that only comes through Jesus.
3. Knowing the truth of GOD'S word and that HE truly did send HIS only begotten SON as a sacrifice for OUR sins so that we can have EVERLASTING LIFE. How could we not be loyal and thankful that we will not have to see the second death?
4. John 3:16 and the FACT that Jesus has saved me from the horrors of this world, and exposed the lies that come from the deceiver.
I NO longer ask " Why me LORD, that I must suffer so".
I now ask, "Why me LORD, that YOU LOVE me so" and " What is it that YOU will me to learn from this cold harsh world, and whom would YOU have me to help?"

Well, He saved her from a horrible stoning to death. If someone did that for me I think I would take a liking to them. Yet, in a sense, the seen of Jesus saving Mary Magdelene from stoning is a microcosm of what Jesus did for Humanity as a whole. This is why we should love Jesus just like she did.
edit: superfluity, have you actually read the bible....?

Mary Magdeline was NOT a prostitute - the Roman Catholic Church has changed its official position on how she is represented...
They now say that she was "with sin" (as we ALL are).
There is, of course, LARGE amounts of speculation regarding the relationship she had with Jesus as well as the role she played in the documented and undocumented events of that time.

I always thought that He was probably the first person in her life to show her love and compassion. He treated her with respect and told her she was forgiven. I'm sure this touched her tremendously and she then wanted to dedicate her life to Him.
As for me, I've been through some pretty rough times and when I hit bottom I instinctively turned to Him and I feel He helped me out. I felt loved and comforted and love Him back.
Best Wishes!

main question: Mary believed in the fact that Jesus was the Savior. Jesus forgave her of her sins, and brought redemption and a sense of dignity back to her, because she was a prostitute.
Jesus chose to love me first, I could not turn my back on someone that loved me so much. He is my friend.
