most likely part of her act and to get more attention.
BTW you just stupidly insulted Jesus with your last sentence.
Jesus doesn't need peace to be with him- he is peace. He paid the price intentionally. You should be thanking him not bestow your blessing of peace as if you are greater than he.

I don't see that she insulted the name of Jesus. All she said was that "many people praise Jesus for these awards. I won't praise Jesus... this award is now my god". And I believe she has every right to stand up there and say that when so many do praise Jesus and go on and on about how he helped them get that award. And just because one says something like that about Jesus, doesn't make them an atheist... she could very well be a Pagan (though normally Pagans don't engage in this type of thing - see Cybil Shephard for her speech and how she thanked the Goddess for helping her get it). If someone were to say something about "it was not the Goddess that helped me get this award... I did it all by myself" I don't think many Pagans would care that someone said that.
And militant? Wow, are people really this offended by everything they see on tv that if they don't agree with it, it's militant????

I don't have a clue who Kathy Griffin is, but it sounds as if I haven't missed anything. It's not just women who indulge in extremism of one kind or another. My goodness there are enough of 'em both sides of the gender fence. But whoever it is, I agree it is sickening, and totally unproductive of anything except generating further disharmony and disunity among people.
Oh man, as for that Rosie O'donnel, I have come to the conclusion that woman has more than a few loose screws.

Its hardly a womans thing, Torquemada comes to mind, as does Hitler, and Vlad the Impaler could be said to be rather extreme too.
Stupidity is the province of both sexes and militancy is a common bond with all extremists. Since to my knowledge this is her first extreme response, maybe shes not that extreme. Or maybe shes just very tired of fundamentalist conceits.
I'm sorry I answered you, I don't usually respond to people who use things like Hiltlery, that belongs in Politics not here.
And not agreeing with Rosie O'Donnelle or Mrs. Clinton is political not religious or spiritual.

Since I don't know who Kathy Griffin is, I can't comment on her. But I really don't think women are generally more extreme about religion than men. I haven't seen any statistics, but I think we probably have some rather different ideas about what constitutes "extreme," because my own impression is that if there is a gender bias, it is more men than women. Fact: extremist Muslims are almost all male. Fact: the vast majority of fundamentalist preachers and heads of large fundie organizations are male. Perhaps there are more women who are known as atheists than as these admittedly paternalistic religions, but extremism comes from different quarters in different belief systems.

I think this has less to do with atheism than comedy.
Comedians spoof and mock culture...and she does have a point that not once do people get up and accept an award without "I would like to thank God".
Not one person who really busts their @ss can just say "I worked really hard for this and thank for you rewarding my effort.
Instead EVERY single acceptance is because of God. So I think she was mocking the largest trend in society....not reall trying to insult religion.

Women given to extremism?? Sorry, but weren't the pilots that flew those jets into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and attempt to hit the Capitol all men?
Sounds like guys are pretty capable of extremism themselves.

properly technically "militant atheism" isn't incredibly "militant" because it does not contain radical extremism in militant like techniques. i'm individually not attentive to any great scale militant atheist communities attempting to overthrow the government, or fly planes into homes. As for "Merry yule" / "happy holidays", some fundies have been whining some years in the past approximately shops asserting "happy holidays" extremely of "Merry Christmas" yet i think of they're over that now, however you nevertheless pay attention the unusual one whining approximately it. yet do not tell me there are not human beings like that for the duration of Canada, by way of fact I go the border somewhat in many circumstances and have seen "save Christ in Christimas" billboards and signs and indications in each single place around this time of year. As for billboards ... there is a few atheist team, i think of it incredibly is referred to as loose Thinkers commencing place or some thing, that has been putting up lot's of billboards captivating to atheists, questioning the assumption in god. So this has curiously made some xtians mad. It does not incredibly ask your self me in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, pondering a number of the places they have located those commercials like in West Virginia, rural Ohio, etc. i've got seen a sort of commercials myself and that they don't look to be in any respect offensive, they're in simple terms attempting to motivate human beings to question their theory in god, it does not insult everyone.

it is nice that some ppl wont take garbage but....all u need to know is....
1. Many more individuals are born than can possibly survive, thus there is competition for limited resources
2. Within this vast number there is variation, and because of this variation some of these individuals will have an advantage--however slight--over others
3. The ones who have the advantages are more competitive and thus they are more likely to obtain the limited resources
4. The ones who are succeeding in securing the limited resources are more likely to reproduce and thus pass onto their offspring the more competitive traits

I think she was out of line saying what she did when accepting her award. I don't care if she believes in God, Jesus or whatever. But why did she have to say that at all? What was her point? I know she's a comedian (although I don't find her funny in any way...) and comedians think they can say whatever they want, but I think she offended a lot of people. Not a good move on her part. No wonder she's on the D list...

I don't think extremism in a matter of sex but I am influenced by what I have witnessed to believe in much of it comes from those who are struggling with thier own sexual identity. I am not suggesting all but a good portion.
