Are the funds generated by weekly bingo games at the Catholic Church on the rez returned to the tribal government?

Are those funds dedicated for use by the tribe, or do they go to further Church evangelism?

Question is for Native Americans who've lived on the rez only.

Serious answers only.

493,615 U.S. Native Americans are Catholics. That is about 12 percent of all U.S. Native Americans. There are two Native American bishops in active service in the United States. http://www.usccb.org/comm/cip.shtml#toc4

In most cases, all monies raised in Catholic Church fundraisers are used by the parish for local parish needs. This can include a multitude of ministries including evangelization.

For example, St. Bonaventure Indian Mission and School serves the people of the Eastern Navajo Reservation. The parish provides water, food, clothing, home repair, housing assistance, and home visitor services to the elderly and indigent who live on the isolated mesas of the Eastern Navajo Reservation. http://www.stbonaventuremission.org/

A Navajo Catholic explains how the two traditions go together:

I just had to butt in and say that it is appalling how the government has treated the Native Americans. I am so sorry.

I am also sorry, I have no answer to your excellent question.
