And what if he/she never grew out of it, and wanted to go to Liberty University to take classes on "Flood Geology," "Radiohaloes," and "the Incest of Eden"? That would sure put a dent in the pocketbook, if nothing else.

Assume that any quotation to scripture will be counterproductive and futile because the someone thinks they are all human-fabricated fables (torah-bible-qur'an-upanishads).

He's your God as well as mine. I don't care how you feel, how wrongly you were raised or what you say to offend me, the world if falling apart under our feet it's about time we as humans stop taking all the credit for what has been done good or bad at anytime God is sooooo real that once you experience him you know what all the Christians are talking about. God is no joke and no lie It's about time humans stop letting the Lucifer minipulate their minds into thinking that life is just... and existance is just... If theres no God why are we here what is existance and why is anything anything. It all makes so much sence. And when the end does come, you'll see what I mean your gonna wish you read this and changed your life around. Imagine all the trillions of people in hell saying "man I wish I would have listened" and " If I could only go back to earth and warn everyone who is like I was". What I'm saying is if I could beg you to come to paradise with me I would. please ppl. lets all go.

The fact that Hell is the announced punishment doesn't make it's level of punishment acceptable. You can't say "well you knew what the consequences were and did it anyway." If you do, then why don't you advocate torture for car theives?

Just curious as to how old the Earth is. Science says one thing and religion says another. Convince me either way.

Think about your answer very hard before you answer.
Would a death of your child, loved one, or something like losing everything you cherished stop you from believing?

So what would it be that would turn you into an atheist?

I'm an atheist, but i was just curious. What does the torah say about the messiah?

This is as serious as it gets ladies and gentlemen. No jokes, no venom, this one hit me today and I have to ask it. The Bible, the book held so near and dear to by christians says what I have written in the question.
Based on this verse, God's lack of intervention in the god-awful issues plaguing humanity (Pick one: Darfur, Iraq, Hurricane Katrina, etc) makes him a sinner. Certainly the God who laid down the law should be bound to it, and if he created the law certainly he knows it. His loving nature definitely must tell him that alliviating humanity's woes would be the right thing to do. Therefore his inactivity makes him a sinner, correct?

If you refute this, do not be scared, spit venom and run. Enable your email options and then state your case, otherwise don't bother.

Atheists... your welcome!

1. How do u define a Christian?
2. How do u view Christians in our society?
3. How can Christians help our society?

I ask this because certain belief systems (Christianity in particular) require repentance and absolute humility before higher power(s). The adherents are supposed to realize that they will ALWAYS fail at perfect goodness (in this life) no matter how hard they try and how hard they try to learn to be good.

How do you think you stand in terms of your own personal idea of "goodness"? Are you still learning? Have you met the standard?

If it were demonstrated to you that the vast majority of people will only restrain themselves, morally, if they believe they are being watched and judged by an invisible, omnipotent being...

...would you embrace religion as a necessary lie?

I'm not saying it has been demonstrated. This is purely hypothetical.

I am dating a man that is not a Christian, like me, and makes me feel horrible. Whenever I try to break up with him though he comes back saying something really sweet that makes me like him more. Are there any scriptures I can refer to that will help my strength in letting him go?!?!

Some of mine.
1- When I was 10 years old, my Mom's ex-boyfriend tried to knock me out but I got away. My 11 year old brother was not as fortunate - he was killed.
2- Once, I had a Satanist put a pistol to my head and threaten to pull the trigger. For some reason, he couldn't.
3- Car swerved into my lane - both of us traveling at 60mph+ and our side view mirrors hit.

Both my parents are Anglians but don't go to church. My sister and her family are regular church goers and are active in the social side of it. She belongs to a Baptist church. I am agnostic and see organised religion as a repressive form of control. My husband is interested in Buddhism but was brought up in the Anglian church. [He was an alter boy].

My parents wanted me to make up my own mind about religion and I was never christened. When I was eleven my mother asked me to go a few times to church to see if I was interested but she left the decision whether to carry on going up to me. I didn't but my sister did and eventually got confirmed.

What is your religious/ideological background?

anyone else think religion is ridiculous?
all of them are the same story with different names for things...we're one planet out of billions so clearly theres other life out there that DONT have religions like us. This "god" everyone refers to is just an idea they have to keep themselves from falling apart. The "god" we all have is ourself's. The planet. We're all connected. Scientists say theres 22 genes in the human DNA- all extraterrestrial. Look at the pyramids...that right there should abolish any idea from your head that one day a half naked man will come down from the sky and save you from the earth's destruction and you'll all walk through pearly gates. Im not saying there isn't an afterlife- Im just saying its most likely nothing what we believe it is. Theres no heaven and hell- its just another realm that we could never imagine. The mind and body are two seperate things. Without the mind the body cannot live - even in christianity thats said. Inner spirituality & meditation.

I dreamed 3 years ago that I saw a person I once knew in my childhood he died of old age. He was more of a grandfather figure to me. I dreamed I seen him in a garden and people were working on it. I told him that place was cool and he told me I would be joinning him. I was not happy abt that news I asked him when and he told me when im 34. That was 3 years ago and I am now 28. Not saying I believe what I dream is going to happen or not but can you imagen the nervousness you might feel as you approch of age?! I am a mother of 3 children and no way in hell am I going anywhere so soon!

Okay we had Ted Haggard, then Florida Republican Rep. Mark Foley ' s preoccupation with teenage boys then Republican legislator Bob Allen getting arrested in a park restroom for soliciting oral sex from a police officer; then Southern Baptist Convention leader Lonnie Latham in Oklahoma City arrested on a lewdness complaint for propositioning a plainclothes policeman; and Indiana Young Republican National Federation leader Glenn Murphy resigning after police charged him with sexually assaulting a young man, then the downfall of closeted former Virginia GOP Congressman Ed Schrock and Larry Craig.

Latest news is Christopher Austin, an 'ex-gay' counselor in Irving, Texas, was convicted of sexually assaulting a young client who came to his gay therapy to be turned straight. Austin was sentenced to 10 years in prison, seven years probation and is now registered as a sex offender.

Do gay people who do not learn to accept themselves act out in unhealthy ways? When will this end?

Is Allah the Muslim translation name from YHWH? Because Jehovah is the English translation from YHWH. I am wondering about this for some time now. We all know that there is only one God, creator of heaven and earth and all living things. Creator of man and woman. Only one begotten Son, Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Is this also your beliefs too?

2007-09-11 06:58:49 · 10 answers · asked by Debs 5

Yea or nay?

That’s not saying to treat individual Muslims in that way, just the miscreant religion of Islam itself... God loves the sinner, but hates the sin... and Islam is a great sinning man made organization! Islam has killed and maimed more Muslims than the whole coalition of forces has that is currently embattled with it.
