A Muslim question: Is Allah in the same as the Jewish YHWH, and people's Jehovah?

Question

Is Allah the Muslim translation name from YHWH? Because Jehovah is the English translation from YHWH. I am wondering about this for some time now. We all know that there is only one God, creator of heaven and earth and all living things. Creator of man and woman. Only one begotten Son, Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. Is this also your beliefs too?

No disrespect intended. It's an innocent question to see if we all are worshipping the same God Almighty. I know for a fact the Buddha is NOT the same as God Almighty. I am just inquisitive to understand. All what I know of on the Media, don't make sense to me. Who can believe what the media says is a question in it's own. The term "Allah" simply means "the [one] god", implying a single Almighty deity reminiscent of the Judeo-Christian "Yahweh" / "Jehovah". However, it is significant that "Allah" is clearly NOT a personal name, while the Hebrew Tetragrammaton (transliterated as "YHWH")) clearly is a personal name for Almighty God.

The important thing is to use God’s personal name in whatever language you speak, rather than insisting upon the impersonal! The name “Yahweh” is certainly preferable to the non-name “God” or “Lord” or "Allah", especially if you speak Hebrew. If you speak English, feel free to use the name "Jehovah".

EDIT: As "Allah" is described in the Koran, it would seem that his personality is incompatible with that of the Judeo-Christian Jehovah of the Bible. It also seems impossible to ignore the fact that Islam believes Jesus to be a mere human prophet, rather than the divine Son of God and heavenly King of Kings.

Yet, Islamists insist that they worship the same God as their forefather Abraham (who is also the forefather of Jews). Technically, the Koran teaches that Jews and Christians are also "Muslim". While it is unwise to generalize, it would seem that many or most Muslims ignore the bible, choosing to pretend "common ground" with Christians and Jews only when it suits the purposes of Muslims.

i'm Christian. I'm not Muslim (I'm sorry), but from my understanding, Allah is merely a word that translates as 'god'. YHWH actually means "he causes to become", which shows that it is a personal name selected by the Creator to show His creation that he can and will do anything necessary for the benefit of His purpose.
Allah, therefore is a title, no different from God, El / Elohim, Dios, Theos, etc.

Awesome question. Gold star for you. Most Muslims will not agree tha Allah and YHWH are the same. If they do then they are not an educated Muslim. NO JEW would even say the word Allah as meaning God.

Not the same faiths, the Koran calls christians "people of the book". In my Experience muslims do not respect the bible calling it a "white mans book". Like it was mention Allah personality is incompatible with that of Jewish/Christian.

Regardless of what and how people translate the "given" meaning these are not the same. This is the common view of Christians but often they mouth the opposite making them liars which is exactly what Satan wants them to do lie.

No it's not the same. Allah is a derivative of "ILL-ILL AH" who was a moon goddess at the time Mohamed started his religion. Hence the crescent moon for their religious symbol. Over the centuries the name has been distilled to ' allah ', and the origins forgotten. Over time it became synonymous with "God".

Allah is the Arabic word for the Abrahamic god. Arabic speaking Muslims, Christians, and Jews all use that word.

I don't see how these Gods could be the same since they teach different messages to each group. So I'd say they are all quite similar, but they would have to be different since their Messiahs are different or late in coming.
