I am 16 years old and am serious about joining the Jewish faith. I have read all about it and decided I would like to convert, but there is one huge problem:
My whole family is Christian so I can't really go to temple or meet with a rabbi.
There wouldn't be any problem with attending temple and "coming out" as a member of the Jewish faith if I were and adult, but I'm still in high school.
When I go to college I have every intention of an Orthodox conversion.
Right now, I'm following the Kashrut but I don't know how to perform the prayers and whatnot, and don't know how to learn and join the community without seeing a rabbi.
What do I do in the meantime?

If you are against Religion and Spirituality???

It is absurd really. I know you think you may be making some great statement of your unbelief in God or religion but it doesn't do anything but cause problems with those that are looking for serious answers. Earlier a lady asked about finding a prayer for her children. She didn't need people tell her she shouldn't brain wash her children with religion. If you peole don't like what you read in here then leave.

Whenever anyone points out that God commanded people to kill disobedient children or kill people for working on the sabbath, Christians just say that we are no longer subject to those laws, but why did God feel it was necessary to impose those laws at all? Did God feel that in those days, it was good for people to kill their kids, but he doesn't think its so great now? Why would he change his mind?

Whoever works on the Sabbath should be put to death:
Exodus 35:2 Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to the LORD: whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death.

Disobedient children should be stoned:
"If a man has a stubborn and unruly son who will not listen to his father or mother, and will not obey them even though they chastise him,his father and mother shall have him apprehended and brought out to the elders at the gate of his home city, where they shall say to those city elders, 'This son of ours is

How come nobody paid any attention to the many many statements and fatwas issued by Muslim leaders against the terrorist, but then conveniently turned around and claimed nobody spoke out?

"In his office in Leesburg, Va., Taha Jabir Alalwani, the chairman of a council that issues Islamic legal opinions for Muslims in North America, opened a copy of the Koran and read aloud in Arabic a verse that lays out the rules of when a Muslim may fight.

"The verse says you have a right to fight those people who try to force you to adopt another religion or to leave your home," said Dr. Taha, a Muslim judge who founded a graduate school in Leesburg to teach Islam to Westerners and Western values to Muslims. "But America didn't ask you to abandon your religion. America didn't deport you, or tell you to leave your homes."

I've heard it asked several times (and once last night), "If I knew that a truck was speeding towards you, wouldn't I be partially responsible for your death if I didn't warn you to get out of the way?"

And so the analogy is made regarding sin and Christ as salvation . But what if it turns out that the speeding truck (i.e. sin) doesn't exist and preaching about the "avoidance" of such a truck (i.e. accepting Jesus) is nothing more than a waste of time?

Wouldn't you want to stop people from squandering their lives in an attempt to warn others of an inevitable "doom" due to what amounts to a nonexistent danger? If someone is continually trying to shove imaginary "safety" down everyone's throat, shouldn't we at least try to shake them free of their delusion? Or would you leave them to their insistence that everyone accept the "safety" they offer?

Book of Exodus 20:

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

...basicly don't worship graven images.

I'm wondering if worshiping graven images of things that represent heaven/God is against 2nd commandment, then why are Chrsitians sold rosery beads and crucifixes to help with prayer ( a form of worship)? Why are their churches are cover is stained glass windows and staues of heavenly people like Jesus and the Saints. All these acting as symbols to help facilitate a heavenly or religious experience while visiting such places. Please correct me if I'm wrong but to me this is a case of practice what you preach. I also don't intend to directly offend any Christians with this question. I'm curious as to what kind of reasoning could accountant of this contradiction.

Now Im not getting down on you guys by asking, at least I hope not, but what are your opinions on free will?

Im asking this beacause your religion limits it so much. You cant do drugs. Bummer. You cant be gay. Bummer. And if you dont, you go to a horrible firey place that no one likes. BUMMER!

Basically, you dont have the free will to do what you want, as your god does not condone it, cause your gonna screw up.

Just wondering, no offense.

I was reading a story the other day about a Christian family who suffered financial ruin, but still praised God because God upheld them in their time of crisis. But why did God permit this family to suffer financial ruin in the first place? I'm sure that they prayed to him in their time of need. I believe in God, but just wonder why God allows Christians or devout Jews (etc) to suffer.

For those who say that Islam itself says to force people to Islam or kill them, what explains this verse from the Quran itself stating that it's only allowed to talk and not force? And why do you keep telling me I want to convert or kill you, when I don't feel either one? I honestly do not care a bit if you convert or not. That's not my purpose here. My purpose is to show what Islam says in context and prove that those who are against all Muslims based on the news and a few idiots calling themselves Muslims are completely wrong. So, what do you think of this?
