Wow, some of these people are idiots. They're totally missing the whole point of your question. I understand that what you're trying to say is that if someone is politcally interested in changing something in society, they should, in a way, boycott it. Some retard said something like 'So does that mean that plumbers should stop going in bathrooms cause they're against clogs?' Wooowwww.... how dull headed could someone possibly be?
I agree with your idea that some of these people should just leave R&S if they really want it to decline. I know it was probably against the rules, but I once asked a question that was a prayer request, and I swear it was probably the humblest request I've ever asked in my life. But, of course, the first five answers were atheists cussing me out! OK, I almost never even see atheists cussing on this site, but apparently a few atheists decided to cuss me out cause I was being so nice about my question... I'm glad someone else understands that this is problem. Thnx for asking it.

Well religion has a big impact on my life in the real world. I live in a city where there is a diverse range of cultures and beliefs which has a massive impact on me.
In some areas I am greeted with curses or being spat at because one extremist group thinks I dress like a whore (which I don't).
In other areas of the city, people of another religion wisper and point because they don't like the man I'm with.
A few blocks away a girl stabbed her father and sister to death during a pyschotic episode - she had schizophrenia and her Scientologist parents refused to allow her to take her medication.
I was raised in a cult, and that has left me with mental and emotional scars.
We have riots in this city over religion.
Not a single day goes by without some religion having an impact on my life. It is unavoidable. Rather ironic considering I am an atheist.
I come to R&S because I want to understand these religions, express my beliefs so others can understand them and warn people about the dangers of various cults.
It would be nice, if by walking away from my computer, I could avoid all the problems I mentioned earlier. But it doesn't work that way, so I meet it head on
And anyways...just because I'm an atheist doesn't mean I'm not spiritual...

1. I am not against religion and spirituality (I myself am a Deist).
2. It isn't absurd. My major in college was Religious Studies and I have a great deal to offer those who ask intelligent questions. This section is for ALL religions.
3. While I have sympathy for the aforementioned lady, I have seen many, many times where someone asked a legitimate question about Buddhism, Islam, or some other religion only to have some Christian Fundamentalist reply with, "Don't! It's evil! You will burn in Hell!"

You just found a way to dress up a very often asked question... you just didn't specifically ask one target group which seems to be the norm.
I've answered this many times in the last year and a half and if anyone is really actually interested in the answer (I doubt some are) then you can find my answers in the resolved questions.

I'm not at all opposed to spirituality - just religion. The chasm is vast - there is little spirituality in the mega-religions (yes, that includes #1, Christianity, in all its many flavors).
Also, I don't go to the religion section - I go to the Society & Culture section, and I respond to questions based upon the levels of hubris, assumption, self-righteousness, preaching, anti-science, wrong or misrepresented science, general BS and blatant mis-information.

nicely, omit Bosom, or Buxy if i ought to call you that, Ummmm, that's a sturdy question, i'm optimistic all of us ought to have a distinctive reason, yet for me it is purely a splash of a time waster especially, besides the fact that it does have some reward in that that's time for society to renowned the huge damaging effect that basing public coverage on fairy memories has. and don't fool your self, some very helpful lobbies exist to push for an schedule based on their ideals. some propose for international changing regulations with the eventual result being international conflict. besides it ought to grant some suggestions to new or transitioning atheists and all of us do like to "witness".

It is because it is an important subject to these individuals. Therefore they post in the appropriate section. Religion and Spirituality. It would be pretty offtopic posting about it in a car section.

Because they don't have respect for other religions other than their own. Just because they don't believe, they try to make everyone else feel like a lesser being and stupid. This is really an attempt to try to hide the emptiness they feel inside. When God is here to fill my emptiness, they have no one to fill theirs. It is quite sad actually, and I pray they they will find the truth before it is too late.

We're trying to save the world from religion. Throughout history, religion has been a curse rather than a blessing.

For the umpteeumpth time, the topics discussed in R&S have a direct bearing on what is happening in (to) my country, therefore, I have an interest, even though I believe in no gods. Besides, you are making a wildly illogical leap to conclude that all atheists are unspiritual.
Now, why do you find it necessary to ask this worn-out old warhorse, once again?
Almost forgot... *Drink!*
