For those who say that Islam itself says to force people to Islam or kill them, what explains this verse from the Quran itself stating that it's only allowed to talk and not force? And why do you keep telling me I want to convert or kill you, when I don't feel either one? I honestly do not care a bit if you convert or not. That's not my purpose here. My purpose is to show what Islam says in context and prove that those who are against all Muslims based on the news and a few idiots calling themselves Muslims are completely wrong. So, what do you think of this?

"Invite all to the way of your God with wisdom and beautiful preaching. And argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious. For your God knows best who have strayed from his path and who receive guidance. And if you do respond to an attack, respond no worse than they did. But if you show patience, that is indeed the best course. Be patient- for your patience is from God . . . Indeed, God is with those who restrain themselves and those who do good. (16:125-128)"

As salaamu 'alaikym warahmatullahi wabaraktuh, my dear sister and my friend.

Mash'Allah, I am a convert to Islam.

I had been raised as a Roman Catholic, which was on again off again thing during my rebellious teenage years, then as an adult, I spent six years in a religous order studying for the priesthood. In stydying I began to see the truth or, at least the truth as I then understood it. I left and eventually arrived at the practice of Buddhism.
While a practicing Buddhist, and having been very comfortable with the same, I found myself in a bookstore holding a copy of an English translation of the Holy Qur'an. Realizing that it was one of the few religions or life philoosophies that I knew virtually nothing about, I purchase the book and then read it from cover to cover!

It answered every question and cleared up every doubt I had ever had. It showed me a social structure that was the best I had ever seen.
To learn more, I went online to the Islamic sites run by persons who are Muslims.
Eventually, after a great deal of study and thought as well as prayer and reflection, I located the nearest mosque and called to see if I could speak with someone about Islam.
I accepted the invitation and went on a Saturday afternoon.
I was welcomed and treated as if I had always been a Muslim and a family member how had simply been away.
\One thing was very interesting though. No one pressured me in any way. In fact, they seemed to be doing just the opposite. I was asked if I was sure that I wanted to convert. Everyone wanted to know why someone who had not been raised as a Muslim would consider the faith as a life choice? This is very interesting when one compares the same to the Christians who have assaulted me on street corners, came calling unannounced at all hours, have left religious tracts under my windhsield wipers of my car, etc.

Historically, Muslims were not at all certain if they wanted others to convert, espeically as Islam began to spread but, mash'Allah, Islam was and is unstoppable!

It is an intersting fact that the majority of person who are converting began studying and investigating Islam on their own and then converted.

Of course, as every Muslim knows, those whom Allah, Subnhanna wa Ta'ala guides are truly guided and no one can lead them astray! Alhumdulillah!

Ma'a salaam.

Dear gal,

I give you a sample:
In my country having helpers/maids and gardeners is not uncommon.
Some are honest some like to steal things (little things).

Everytime I missed something and asked them, the ones whom always caught (of stealing) got upset and angry whilst the honests just easily tried to look for it.

Similar to your question:

Christianity are told to get more and more people to be christians.
They do that by quoting verses.

No matter what your intention is, any time any body explain their religion whether its muslims, hindus, anything, they rever it to their own being, they will automatically think you do the same like they do.

Muslims teaching is always saying not to convert, even it says in 36:10 that it's pointless.

So if you write here any verses, yet here are so many christians, automatically you will be regarded as trying to convert.

So, it's up to you.
Mind you explaining abt Islam to non Islam is pointless.
Allah SWT said so.
Allah SWT said that faith is under His Domain.
Dont waste your time.

But, if you still curious and still think that you should say something, be ready for any comments.

Our fellows muslims who are fighting or committed suicide are not different than any Christians or Catholics in Ireland.

And please remember, Islam believes that things that already happened is taqdeer.

I am not agreeing with the suicide bombers because it kills so many people, but I dont agree with the US and its allies Invasion either.

Do your best as your ibadah to Allah SWT, dont bother abt what others think what you are doing. If you believe you try to do a good thing, then that's it. Allah SWT Knows what you're actually doing.
Wassalam.

Yes, that's evident when studying the History of Islam during the Prophet's era, The Prophet (pbuh) and the Muslims lived amongst the Jews, Chritians and Pagans. Not Only did the Muslims retain from fighting them, they went as far as to sign Peace Treaties with them as to ensure the safety of both Muslims and the rest of the people living there. Prophet Mohammed used to warn Muslims against breaking any of these Peace Treaties, and so The Muslims and the Non-Muslims were able to live together in peace. When The Pagans and the Jews broke these Peace Treaties, which they often did, the Prophet (pbuh) used to give them a second and a third chance, hoping that they would resort to peace, in doing so they would try to hurt and kill even more Muslims thinking knowing that they were safe from being braught to justice, the following verse is an Order from God asking the Prophet and the Muslims to seek justice after the Pagans of Mecca had kidnapped a Messenger that the Prophet had sent with a message to them :

A (declaration) of immunity from Allah and His Messenger, to those of the Pagans with whom ye have contracted mutual alliances:-

Go ye, then, for four months, backwards and forwards, (as ye will), throughout the land, but know ye that ye cannot frustrate Allah (by your falsehood) but that Allah will cover with shame those who reject Him.

And an announcement from Allah and His Messenger, to the people (assembled) on the day of the Great Pilgrimage,- that Allah and His Messenger dissolve (treaty) obligations with the Pagans. If then, ye repent, it were best for you; but if ye turn away, know ye that ye cannot frustrate Allah. And proclaim a grievous penalty to those who reject Faith.
(But the treaties are) not dissolved with those Pagans with whom ye have entered into alliance and who have not subsequently failed you in aught, nor aided any one against you. So fulfil your engagements with them to the end of their term: for Allah loveth the righteous.
But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, an seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.
If one amongst the Pagans ask thee for asylum, grant it to him, so that he may hear the word of Allah. and then escort him to where he can be secure. That is because they are men without knowledge.
(Quran 9:1-6)

God tells the Muslims that they had to give those Pagans (Who had betrayed the Prophet and the Muslims, and broke the Peace Treaty) a chance- 3 months- to repent, and no one from the Muslims could defend themselves from the Pagans until those 3 months were over. Not only that, but God asks the Muslims to ''escort him to where he can be secure'', now tell me, what Army general would tell his soldiers to secure the enemy to a place where he can be safe and secure ...? So no one can deny the Mercy and the Righteousness that the Prophet and the Muslims are ordered to have By God, and claiming that ''Islam has a violent history'' is laughable at. So sorry to say it ''Common Sense'', but you don't have any. And it's funny that you claim that ''the Quran has verses that encourage murder'' and yet you fail to show us those verses.

islam has a very, very, very long history of violence, hatred and intolerance. AND, it's "holy" book repeatedly calls for death and war against anyone who rejects allah. It ALSO permits (and even seems to ENCOURAGE) deception and deceit.

Hmmm. Seems pretty clear to me.

What do I think of this? My personal opinion is that islam is the single greatest threat that humanity has had to face. I also believe that it is a false god intended to deceive and distract people from the love and mercy of the one true God.

You asked. I answered with my honest opinion.
