For example most quote 2 Timothy 3:16 -- "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God"...to justify the words of Paul and then New Testament and such. You ask them what the word "Scripture" means and they say "The Bible". I say the Old Testament or the New Testament and they say both. LOL. Anybody that would have read that verse 2000 years ago would have CLEARLY understood that Paul was talking about the Old Testament only. None of the other books of the New Testament were collected at that time...Then you have the most famously abused verses in the Bible. Revelation 22:18-19..it is the one that says do not add or take away from the words of this book...This book was only the book of Revelation...but 99% of Christians use those verses to say..."Aha...you can't add to or take away from the Bible so translations and versions are bad"....wrong!. What are some other verses that are abused and taken out of context?

I'm asking because I was granted my miracle 3 weeks ago when the big man let my brother pull through and live when he was in intensive care, his brain was starved of oxygen for 7 hours and there was no chance of survival, docs told us there was no hope at all but we needed to wait for his body to die. He opened his eyes up 3 days later and is not too bad now, he's confused but not brain dead like they said.

I prayed and begged for a miracle and I got it, the same thing happened to my sister 13 years ago and I was granted a miracle then too. she also had no hope and was certainly brain dead.

What do you think, anyone else have a stroy like this?

I mean, I have come to the conclusion that no matter what Muslims do and say they will always be thought of as terrorists.

Everytime the public opinion shifts and becomes more understanding of Islam, Something happens.

As I have seen on CNN, Christians and Jews don't care what people think of them and they are doing everything in their power to accomplish their goals.

Don't you think we should do the same and stop caring what people think of us.

Just read the following verse from the Quran:

Quran 4:34 "(as to those muslimah’s) on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them;"

Talk about a self-defeating exhortation

OK, 3 violation notices today so I guess I'll behave for now.

Anyhow, sometimes I feel like that there is not point to worrying about anything as far as studying your eyeballs out of their sockets when at the end of it all all that matters is how you live?

Augustine gave earnest expression to the search for peace when, conscience smitten and repentant, he prayed:"Man is one of your creatures, Lord and his instinct is to praise you. He bears about him the mark of death, the sign of his own sin, to remind him that you thwart the proud. But still, since he is a part of your creation, he wishes to praise you. The thought of you stirs him so deeply that he cannot be content unless he praises you, because you made us for yourself and our hearts find no peace until they rest in you".
------(Confessions, p.21)

Romans 5:1,2
"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: by whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God".

"It is peace that you need-heaven's forgiveness and peace and love in the soul. Money cannot buy it.....But God offers it to you as a gift,

I want honest answers, I have been in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints my whole life and I always heard from other people(some) that they think mormons are a cult. I don't understand this when we teach about free agency and choosing for yourself. You are very much Christians. People say we believe in poligamy, but we don't. I think they get that from the RLDS religion. I always thought it was funny cause people would tell me I'm not Christian, how do they know, I very much believe in God. Can some one anwer this for me, cause I always wondered way people said it was a cult. I will tell you straight up I'm not a cult member!

Not only do we thirst for meaning; we long for forgiveness, for relief from guilt and culpability.

There are many sources to which humans turn for such freedom. Their are many Idol worshippers who worship at temples and shrines al over the world. Many of these worshippers bring their gifts and offerings to be enlightened. Their emotions are assuaged, but their trangressions remain-and so does their guilt. Their devotions to statues do not offer forgiveness from their sins or freedom from culpability.

Gods that cannot hear cannot forgive. Gods that cannot breathe cannot bless. Gods that cannot speak cannot communicate acceptance, Gods that cannot create cannot re-create.

Only a living God-an incarnated, crucified, and resurrected Saviour-can plead our cause before the Father and undo our sordid past. Only a victorius, living Lord can nullify our trangressions.

Feel free to share any additional thoughts on "forgiveness".

In the 12th Century clergy were forbidden to marry to prevent property passing from the church to their families?

Some of us actually thought it had to do more with some kind of morality or sexual purity but no, it was just about church finances and property.

I come to Yahoo Answers to LEARN, and I'm tired of this WAR between religions. If we can't get along, then why can't we just separate?!?!

Here are the major battles:

Christianity v. Atheism
Christianity v. Agnosticism
Christianity v. Everything else that's not Christianity
Atheism v. Agnosticism
Atheism v. Religion in general (although some definitions of 'religion' would include Atheism!)

Therefore.... we need these catagories:

Christianity
Atheism
Agnosticism (because we don't belong ANYWHERE)
All other religions (not saying that all other religions should be grouped together, because they are very different. However, I don't think there would be enough questions asked on other individual religions).

SO... WHO HATES MY IDEA?

I have been a a christian for a few years now and i do feel like God has given me a renewed sense of purpose and made me feel alive. I have a question though and it is if we are not of this world then what can you really expect out of life besides just going through the motions and then passing on to join God for eternity in heaven? I mean if i wanted to be a scientist should i still keep in mind all of my christian values? or if i was interested in the universe and if there is other life out there do you think God wants us to know these kind of things?

I have heard a few Creationists claim that the layers of strata don't exist. I'm taking a geology class in college. My teacher took us on a trip to the rocky mountains. He took us to a spot where there was strata. It had all 12 layers all in the correct order. I'm sorry, but you people are not going to convince me that something I have seen with my own 2 eyes doesn't exist. I guess you would have to be brainwashed before you see the layers of strata to see them and still not believe in them.
