We have accomplished nothing in Iraq, What should we do?

Sure we accomplished something we took a country that was in a bad way and made it worse. We left it open for when we pull out for a civil war and invasion from Iran. What a mess that is... I honestly dont think there is anything that can be done without help from the neighboring countries of Iraq.

When we first went in I thought that the only way for peace would be to divide the country into three parts, Kurdistan, and a part for Shia and a part for Suni. The last two groups have been wanting to kill each other for centuries... trying to put them together will be impossible.

I think we should "bring the troops home' and then fight the Islamic Fundamentalists in Chicago, Indianapolis, New York, Boston, San Francisco and other American Cities. And if Americans do not want to fight , then we could get the illegal Mexicans to do it for us because we all know they do the jobs that Americans do not want to do.

By the way, how many people were in those mass graves in Iraq...several hundred thousand, give or take a few?

Honey you can't help a country that doesn't want us there.There is nothing more we can do but pray.That and pull our young men back home.There has been way too much lost lives and stupidity already.If you have been there God Bless you! They told my son in law that he will be going in less then a year.I'm a scared to death for him.We have way to many problems right here at home.We need our boys here!

I believe it's become apparent that our particular brand of democracy doesn't work everywhere. We need to make a better withdrawal than we did in Viet Nam and stop invading countries that had nothing to do with 9/11. Our global image is really starting to suck. We should be better at diplomacy and negotiation.

We destabilized a stable country who could have helped us in the war on terror/Iran.

We caused a destabilization which then caused ethnic cleansing

We caused a Civil War

We brought democracy to Iraq

We caused the rest of the Islamic world to hate the west.

Get out. (We never should have gone in).
We will never be able to get the Iraqi people to get along. The best thing we can do is leave and hope that they will figure it out on their own. A lot of the violence over there now is directed at us and not themselves, with us out, it might help them figure things out. Maybe they need a civil war (we did).

While I appreciate your service, I would disagree that "we have accomplished nothing...". A brutal dictator was take out of power... that's pretty signifigant in and of itself.
