Yes, frequently. It does not make me feel guilty anymore. I just wait until something stimulates me again. Usually it is going to an Ethical Society meeting on Sunday and having interesting people to discuss important topics with. It's a rather intellectual version of spiritual, but it suits me.

Definitely!! When I was in my early twenties I took up studying every little thing I could about the Jewish culture and beliefs that lead me on to study Greek and the New Testament and where these concepts actually came from (many concepts in Christianity did not come from Judaism... though they use the Old Test to back up some of them). I finally got to the point that I felt it was absolutely useless to study it anymore... at which time I kind of went into an agnostic stage and left it all alone completely.
It's good to study, but as I found out, it can be taken too far....

It's called a darkness of the soul. You can feel like praying is a waste of time, and you wander looking for something better, and there is never anything good that isn't temporary.
So eventually you do go back to your spiritual side.
You need to study and reason if that what you were born to do. Everyone's vocation is different.

Are you saying that it's innate knowledge to know how to live? If not, how do we know how to live? We need knowledge, knowledge of how to survive, human knowledge of science and civilization, and knowledge of how to make ourselves deeply happy which is spiritual knowledge. For all of these we need teachers, teachers who know all this. Who are they? They are the universal educators that appear from age to age. That is not to say that we don't learn from each other, which I also love.
No, I never get tired of knowing more. Even when I'm playing, I'm learning. For me it's all a spiritual experience. I'm a spiritual being.
Now you say books after I wrote all this. I eat books. They are my nourishment, both spiritual books, especially Baha'i books, and others. I devour them at a ratio of about 5 to 1. I balance reading, research, and thinking with time with friends and neighbors, being with others. My work as an educator is in there too, which gives me lots of interaction with youth, whom I treasure. Spiritually, I feel invigorated by it all and it keeps me up even when coping with some of the realities of this world, which could destroy the hope of even the strongest.

I used to get spiritually bored.
Now I meditate on my High Power. Times of boredom for me is now time for praise for my Creator.
When bored.. pause. reflect. pray. act.
The next correct thing to do is probably close at hand.
To behave we need to change our behavior.

You are never too old to learn and knowledge is never a waste of time. Do it for yourself and to make yourself feel better.
I think it's great. Good for you!
