Salam brother......Yes....We as Muslims shouldn't care what other think of us......for that matter even the opinions of other Muslims shouldn't matter so much......(as long as we consciously don't try to hurt them)......we should only worry i cannot emphasize enough the word worry, about what Allah thinks of us, that's all.....the red necks and Jews can take their opinions and stuff it you know where......:-P

I am not a Muslim so i cannot speak for Muslims, and also i did not see the CNN program, but on the question of whether Muslims should care what others think of them, i would suggest that they should at least care about whether others have an accurate view of Islam and Muslims.
If they then dislike Muslims because Muslims or Islam go against something they believe in, then that can't be helped, but if prople are prejudiced against Muslims based on false perceptions, then it leads to unnecessary animosity between Muslims and non-Muslims, and persecution of Muslims where prejudiced people are in a position to do them harm.
And should not Muslims be concerned for the honour of Allah and of their religion? If people think incorrect things about Islam, is that not undesirable with respect to the goal of helping non-Muslims appreciate the truth of Allah? Or is that not one of the goals of Islam?

Whoa! Lot's of freaky people here answering this question, haha!
Well I have a different perspective. I was raised a christian. My mother was a methodist and my father a baptist. I know all about what they teach and every church song and dance lecture. I lived it. I was raised in Houston TX.
But when I grew up, I used my own judgement and converted to Islam. I checked out a english translation of the Holy Qu'ran and by the time I completed reading it, I chose to convert and knew that this is truly how I have always believed and now finally have a home for my beliefs.
I married a muslim man. It was a strictly arranged marriage. I saw him for the first time after we had already been married. I moved to his home country. I learned how to be a true muslim. I learned how to pray though I will probably never learn to read the Qu'ran in arabic.
I have seen this program which you mentioned and asked my husband what he thinks about it. He previously worked as a producer for news and current affairs. He worked for a government owned news, known as Pakistan Television (PTV Islamabad). So he has a very good understanding of news and media.
His thought about it, is that he doesn't care. He is a devout muslim. He doesn't think anyone cares about 'God's Warriors'. Just like the 700 Club, it is all backed by wealthy people who want to give everyone the image that a particular race or religious group is bad or whatever...
When Bush started this anti-Muslim campaign, everyone listened but time has come to pass and no body cares really. Some people who are more impressionable and less educated or perhaps referred to as ignorant in ways, may still hate muslims and continue to in their generation. The same can be compared to the hatred towards black people that so many of our grandparents have because at that time it was a social issue and the media fed people on it.
It is sad but it's the way of media. Media has the most power in every country around the world. Because everyone looks to the media to follow trends and patterns of society beliefs. Most people with some knowledge and experience, knows not to believe everything they hear when it comes to media. I am like that and so is my husband.
I lived in Pakistan for two years. I never saw anyone who was a terrorist, and I never met a member of the al-qaida. I don't believe it exists. It is just a label and a group of select reformists that the governments consider to be rebels and uncontrollable people because they threaten to generate civil unrest. But only people who have been there could know that.
Anyhow, my point is simple. I am neutral and mainly indifferent to media in that aspect. I don't consider a terrorist that claims to be 'muslim' as a brother. I think people should stop saying that muslims are responsible to stop the terrorists. We wouldn't know because we have nothing whatsoever to do with them!!!! As a muslim I don't really care what people think of my beliefs. I believe it is even prophesied in the Qu'ran that there will come a time when people will turn against muslims and I really believe this is the time. Therefore modern muslims are truly being tested in this period of time. However, you may note that Islam is the fastest growing religion in the US to date.

again why is it that the so called christians are the ones spewing hatred. i didn't care for the show as it not only focoused on the negativity and hatered directed at not only islam and muslims, but it wasn't very diverse. where were the american muslims not just the jewish guy who fell in w/ a terrorist group or the arab girl who was born and raised in america. i'm talking a/b the millions of african american ,peurto rican americans, asian americans,etc..... the media seems to think that only arabs are muslims and they didn't go to diverse muslim groups like the salafi. just shia and sunni,so of course they will only see the bad in islaam. i so wish they would report accurately when talking a/b islaam. if it's such an opressive religion why are so many people accepting islaam. i'm an african american muslim who even wears niqab and i don't think or care what people say a/b me. when they point or stare,or even make ignorant comments. i don't stay silent i educate them. show them that we're intelligent not scared. we give these homegrown terrorists to many freedoms by letting them intimidate us. start speaking up my brothers and sisters b/c that's why they say things like go back to your country well heck i'm american, just where do they think i can go if i'm already home. and they say we're the uneducated and ignorant ones. and why isn't that these cowardly men shout these things and denfensive women and children and not the men. b/c they are scared. my point is that all people should respect one another and that's in the quran and the bible.

I am not a muslim. I did just receive this thought from a well respected member from the past:
Observe the wonders as they occur around you. Don't claim them. Feel the artistry moving through and be silent.

yes i agree and if i have the opportunity to explain , I'd explain as we do here in yahoo ,
the most important is unity and enthusiasm for the sake of Islam and those brothers and sisters who are killed everywhere , Muslims , sadly don't even care about any goals, they tried to show that they are being peaceful till they became negative...

Yep, I think if people learn to move on and ignore the horrible and ignorant things people say...we'll actually make some progress in the world.

Where did you get the idea that God's Warriors has ANYTHING to do with Islam? Just out of curiosity.

I agree, brother. But to be honest, I truly don't care how someone thinks of me, especially if I haven't done anything to them. Like 2Pac once said "Only God Can Judge Me."

ofcourse, because if we care about what they say, our ability to do good suffers. One wise man once said "Its better to light a candle then to curse the darkness"
