I've seen a lot of people, that follow everything the Bible tells them and read the Bible and quote the Bible everyday, why don't they focus on God and pray to Him instead?, i'm not saying to stop reading or quoting the Bible, but prayer is more powerful...

Dear one - you assume that people who read the Bible stop there.

That is like me assuming that because you pray - you do not read the Bible.

I promise you - you do not have to worry... those of us who read the Bible and quote scripture to edify and strengthen others DO pray on a regular basis. We also seek to serve God and help others. We understand that prayer is a mighty thing - particularly when we claim God's promises in His word. He has sworn to always keep His promises. (Exodus 34, Leviticus 26, Job 22... John 14... I can go on and on, but I'll let you look up the verses yourself.)

Scripture tells us that the prayer of a righteous man availeth much (in James 5)... Jesus instructed us to pursue righteousness (in Matthew 6), and to have faith in Him - believing He will answer us when we pray (Matthew 18, John 14, etc) How do we get faith? Faith comes to us by the word of God (in Romans 10)...
There are many verses where God instructs man to keep his word in us daily - such as in Joshua 1 or in John 15... and we are to have His word in us to help us be discerning (1st Thesalonians 5) of all we encounter.

John 1 makes reference to the Jewish belief that God IS his word - when he calls Jesus the "Word" that was in the beginning. (It is why the original Hebrew scriptures are written continuos... all together, without sentance breaks or punctuation... because the ENTIRE word of God is considered His name!)

Worry not, dear one.
The Word told us to pray without ceasing (1st Thessalonians 5) and we do.

Peace.

Paul said that faith comes from what is heard. He also says that faith is the belief in things that have been demonstrated to be so , but that are not seen -- perhaps invisible or in the past.

Thus belief as to what God is, what he will do, what he requires is based on the Bible's explanations.

The fact then that our prayers are to this living God as has been revealed to us is how things hang together. So our faith is in God as he has revealed himself through his Inspired Holy Word, the Bible.

Unless, God had chosen to reveal things about himself, there is no way we could have any idea about him or his qualities, his standards, and his holy being.

Even as it is, we can only understand that which has been revealed. We are probably not endowed with enough intelligence to understand all things about a being that has no beginning, no end, and who is God of the past, the present and the future.
