one of my friends told me today that the peace sign was really an upside down broken cross. she said that a long time ago, somebody did that on purpose and people got really angry, so they made it into a "peace" sign. is it true? if not whats the real story.

Try to imagine the silent agony of a man decorated for "bravery" beyond the call of duty, whose motivation was the hatred of his father that he vented it on the enemies !

At some point, your suffering may no longer be the fault of the world, your father, your mother or that molesting cad of a brother.
Can you lift yourself up by your bootstraps, surely not?
Take heart, all is not lost.

It was only the way we all go about saving ourselves, that is hopeless.

Whenever we are upset, you can do nothing right. On the other hand, when you are calm and centered, you can do nothing wrong. If you find yourself condemned by others, it will be for your noble character, so endure it patiently.

Do not take things so personally. Fearlessly speak your mind. Take appropriate action and you shall never suffer anxiety or depression.

In fact, the cure of your past and the blessing of the future lie in dealing perfectly in the present with imperfect people!

What's your thoughts on these-What say U?

I'm asking about your emotional reaction to that knowledge. Please do not discuss WHETHER such a thing is true, that's not what I'm asking.

I have been researching for a while and have come up with a few questions.1) What is the name of God (refering to the christian god) and 2) Where is he from. I find it hard to believe that he just pop'd up out of no where, and the fact that many religions borrowed gods/goddesses from previous religions was popular. There were also many older predating religions in the area and time frame, I know Dravidianism is one. I also know that the probable symbol/element/whatever for God is fire because the vast majority of communications between people and god are done via fire. Burning bush, sacrifices by fire... ect. There ya go. And please, if your a closed minded Christian who can't think beyond what their pastor/preacher/minister/priest has shoved down your throats, don't bother replying unless you have viable information. My goal is to understand God better by understanding his history neglected in the bible. Thank you and have a nice day.

Thankfullness to you for all of the blessing given from you. Thankfullness to you for your son, our Lord and Savior. You so loved the world you gave your son to redeem mankind, he gave his life upon the cross of calvary and you ressurected him and he opened the life gate that whom that believe may not perish but have everlasting life. He is now at your right hand, Thank thee.

May we seek you and your kingdom: Your kingdom come and your will be done here on earth as it is in Heaven. Father, we are greatful and thankful for this united land of America. Our great land of liberty built on your foundation and under you, the only true and living God. May our hopes of our country be built upon your rock and no other rock that leads to sinking sand. I used to volunteer at my church before I became disillusioned and became an atheist. Part of the work I did involved putting flowers up around the church. Sure, they looked and smelled nice and all that. But the pricetag was outrageous! The church would spend hundreds of dollars each year on them.

My question is, what function does this serve? How does this fulfill Jesus' work? Couldn't the money be better spent for other charitable causes, such as supplying food to the poor?

Should a real God be so consumed with himself that he would "want" to burn people forever for not believing in him?

Would a real god need a human blood sacrifice to make everything okay?

Would he need blood to wash away sins?

Is it not funny how christians find ways to disregard these facts and justify their sick Gods actions?

If the Judeo-Christian God is real, then how come there is no historical evidence of a major monotheistic religion in the world before roughly 2,000 B.C.?

Writing was invented in that area roughly around 3,500 B.C.

This is a gap of over 1,500 years. If the Judeo-Christian God is real, where is the evidence of a major monotheistic religion?

The historical and archeological evidence suggests that there was no such religion during that gap. This is very suspicious.

Why?

The reason why I am asking atheists this is because I want to hear an outsider's perspective. Thank you for your answers.

"High levels of organic atheism are strongly correlated with high levels of societal health, such as low homicide rates, low poverty rates, low infant mortality rates, and low illiteracy rates, as well as high levels of educational attainment, per capita income, and gender equality. Most nations characterized by high degrees of individual and societal security have the highest rates of organic atheism, and conversely, nations characterized by low degrees of individual and societal security have the lowest rates of organic atheism. In some societies, particularly Europe, atheism is growing. However, throughout much of the world – particularly nations with high birth rates – atheism is barely discernable."

I just feel that many may be lured into a false sence of compfort in their relationship with god. i cant help but wonder how they would be acting if hard times were laid upon them. dont get me wrong to praise god is a wonderful thing but i feel music shouldnt influence the amount of love and praise we offer. is this a bad stance?

more than enough to convince believers that they need to be more honest with themselves, and to be at least as honest as Mother Teresa? Isn't this also concrete evidence that one need not be religious to devote oneself to suffering humanity?

I ask because I was told today that those who follow the bible are better then everyone else an then they said it says so in the bible.

Of course with me being the way I am I shut them up rather quickly.

What scripture supports what they claim?
