In Job, God and Satan have conversations.

Does that seem likely given the christian myth that satan has been in rebellion against god since before Adam and Eve?

Satan is defferential to god, asking for permission and accepting the limitations god sets upon his actions.

Does that seem likely given the christian myth that satan has been in rebellion against god since before Adam and Eve?

At the end of Job, when Job complains to god about the way he has been treated, god doesn't turn around and blame satan, but instead takes the blame and challenges Job to justify the grounds for any complaint against god.

Job makes clear that the evil in the world is from god, controlled by god, and works on behalf of god to tempt those who believe in god to curse him for the evil they experience in life.

So why all this nonsense about fallen angels and rebellion against god?

That we live in a world largely populated by people who:

1. Believe that only *their* imaginary sky-daddy is the 'real' one.

'2. Believe that they are in touch with something 'Holy' even though in reality they get their dogma from Bronze-age tribal/patriarchal hand-me-down texts.?

3. Believe that our world is right about now coming to an end in which they will find salvation, and that the rest of us are infidels or unsaved, arrogant, sorrowful, or evil or hateful or any number of these bad things?

4. Thinks that anyone who doesn't follow their 'faith' either 'worships' science or is tempted by the 'devil'?

5. Often know as much about scientific discovery, psychological processes, and rational thought as does a rock with wings?

6. Are convinced that their morals (no matter how out-dated or despicable) are 'absolute' and decreed by a supernatural dad?

Consider Genesis 6 and 7: God drowns everything.

He does not distinguish between humans who can sin, and animals and plants that cannot sin.

He does not distinguish between new-born infants who have not sinned, and adults who have.

He does not even distinguish between those whose sins are trifling and those whose sins are monstrous.

He drowns them all.

Why?

Because he can.

Noah's Flood is a singular event, demonstrating the sheer power and injustice of this monster in the bible.

"...Absolute Power corrupts absolutely"

What say you?

I'm catholic so I should believe that there is something after you die. Recently I became terrified of dying because It seems very naive to believe in something like that since there are so many theories out there. Im interested in your views.
does anyone else have this phobia?

If you look at cults, their followers will not question their leaders, and do anything they say. This happens in the larger religions too. Look at scientology, Xenu (sometimes Xemu) is introduced as an alien ruler of the "Galactic Confederacy" who, 75 million years ago, brought billions of people to Earth in spacecraft resembling Douglas DC-8 airliners, stacked them around volcanoes and blew them up with hydrogen bombs. Their souls then clustered together and stuck to the bodies of the living. Scientologists believe the alien souls continue to do this today, causing a variety of physical ill-effects in modern-day humans.

Now, this is no different than islam or christianity. They both seem to follow blindly. When their is evidence against the existance of their god, and their religion, they say they must have faith, and believe no matter what. No amount of reason or proof can show them otherwise, no matter how sensible it is. People will pour their money and lives into a religion.

Everything from Darwin has never been proved and the bible has been one step ahead of science all the time Scientist thought the earth was flat and could fall of the end where the bible says it was round! Scientist thought the earth was held up by something where the bible says it floated holding itself !
there are lots of them so how can people not believe you must be so blind the proof is right in front of you !!!

My faith in christianity has died, and I feel isolated and alone. I have prayed and read sections of the bible, but I can't seem to strengthen my faith. What is a method that you guys use?
