I AM the reason "things happen!" Didn't you know that! Oh wait... Maybe it was that "thing happen," which is the reason I AM...

Hmmm, Both of these sentences alone just don't seem to cut it, do they? Let's try and combine them....

I AM the reason "things happen," which is the reason I AM!

Yup, that's it! =D

If we're assuming that there IS a "cosmic scheme". Personally I think that things simply arise due to causes and conditions, are changing and impermanent. The only "schemes" I'm aware of are those who do so intentionally.

Last night,
I felt something is watching me over, so looked up in the sky, there was a beautiful star shining over my head.
I felt... that star, knew I would be here on earth tonight, shed its light of love for me, thousand millions years ago -

Maybe I'm silly and egoistic, but I do believe I'm the reason the whole universe existed so long time, for me.
You can say same thing and I'll not be jealous to share the universe with you (since I'm so rich!!!^.^)

Yes we are.

We are the 'Cosmic Observer', and as quantum physics is beginning to discover, the relationship between 'Observer' and the 'Observed' is much more intricate than ever previously suspected, in this 'round of civilisation' at least.

I am sure that in not such a great deal of 'time' it will be shown that it is us that are making 'All that Is' so.

This will, naturally, as per the first answer, arouse all sorts of feelings of distaste, accusations of arrogance, and so on, but this is largely a result of us being heavily 'shielded' from the real 'reality', and from who we really are. And above all that our existence is firstly 'beyond Time/Space', and secondly is infinitely multi-layered, thus many 'realities' are unfolding in the same apparent 'Time/Space'. This leads to much confusion.

Hopefully not for too much 'longer'. All will be revealed. :-)))

Human consciousness could be said to be the 'material' out of which the universe is 'created', but in a larger context, the human is one of those creations and so is not causing anything to happen.

However, You are not the human but rather Consciousness itself. Ultimately, there is no reason.

We are not the reason things happen. Although our existence does determine just where we find ourselves. And that determines what we see. A falling snowflake does not determine the snowstorm. Yet the falling snowflake will always find itself within a snowstorm.

In this place we call the world yes, we are the cause in many cases, even when we can't quite seem to get the pieces to fit right in our understanding.

We contribute causes to some things that happen, and we are the things that happen because of other causes and conditions.

no we're not, but we are part of the purpose, part of the whole scheme.

No, we're just the accidental product of unthinking natural processes.
