I was brought up in a Christian household. I decided when I was about 16 to look into it. I knew the basics, but I didn't want to continue with a faith just because it's what my parents believed. But I also didn't want to leave simply because that would be the easier option.

I studied the Bible, and still do, because it shows clear evidence of inspiration.

No, my parents are athiests. I went to church the first time because my grandparents were looking after me that weekend and they made us come, then I met some other kids there and started coming to play with them, and now I believe with all my heart in God and His son. My brother doesn't come, he never did like it, and my mum still scoffs from time to time about it and we have these 'debates' about religion. And I don't think my dad really minds either way.

Martin S needs to read some books. (not the bible by the way)

Belief in God can come to anyone at any stage in their life (though usually through a traumatic experience) However, 99.9% of people who believe in the God of the bible and or koran, do so because they were brought up to do so. FACT

No, I never went to church and was never encouraged to believe in God. I was always open to a belief in God however because of the natural revelation of God. I knew that scientists could not explain the origin of matter in this universe, that something cannot come from nothing and saying that matter has "just always existed" is the same as saying "I don't know where everything came from, I guess it must just have always been here".

The idea that all of the complex life forms on this planet were the result of a chain of random accidents culled by natural selection seemed pretty far fetched to me too.

I came to believe in God when He arranged circumstances in my life to where I ended up at a church one day, heard the gospel message and God called me into his family and gave me the gift of faith. Since then I have done quite a bit of research into Christianity and I know that my faith is based upon solid evidence and not just wishful thinking or imagination.

Not really. I was sent to Sundy School but my parents never actually went to church, they were not and still aren't Christians..I was never really encouraged to accept Jesus or pursue a relationship with Him either by the church or my parents. I investiagted other religions because i believed in a god/higher being but I eventually came back to Jesus.
God bless

I wasn't raised religious at all my parents figured it was my choice and when I hit 13 I became a Christian but found them lacking I then tried (and was baptised) LDS when i was about 15 just as bad if not more so I tried out a few more christian faiths looked into other belief systems but not a one fit and I came to the realisation that they didn't fit because they're wrong man-made to get the people to do as they are told! so now I am just me a person who believes in a higher power but rejects all religion and the bible and is happier for it!

No, I used to call myself an atheist. I was never brought up in a religious environment.

There were lots of reasons why I turned to God. One of them being that my friend went missing and was close to suicide. I didn't know what to do and even rang her mobile phone network trying to find out where she might be.

Anyway, then all of a sudden I prayed for her - I really don't know why to this day why I prayed. My prayer was answered within 30mins she was found safe and well and at hospital.

Since that day I started asking more questions about God. I had many....why do people die? why are people murdered if there is a God etc? The more questions I asked the more I discovered. It is mankind that murders not God.

I believe in God due to personal experience.

Not exactly. I grew up believing in God because that's how I was raised and taught and I still believe in God because He has done so many wonderful things in my life:

The doctors said I'd never walk even with leg braces, by the grace of God they were wrong
The doctors said I'd never have a child, again by the grace of God they were wrong

Those are just a couple of examples of how God has touched my life.

I believe in God, but not the way my parents did. I do know the difference. I even had to go to church when I was sick. Now, that's taking it way too far.
