How about when you are very ill in the hospital?
There is two that I call: My mom and God!

Warning: I don't do thumbs down nor do I encourage it! Questions that I make are for my benefits. I want to learn from each one. Not use this to put you down or anything! Ok?
((((((hugs))))))

It's not a calling to any god, it's just part of the language.

For instance, how many times do you say "okay" in a day?
It is actually "o.k." started as a political campaign in Oklahoma. Do you use that word to represent Oklahoma politics? Of course not. The word has evolved just as the phrase "Oh my god" has evolved.

yes

and "oh for god's sake" and "for christ's sake"

i also say "f**k me" and "bugger me"

do you have a point? They're just expressions of frustration/anger. Xians are the ones who think they have something to fear from using them.

I wouldn't call for god if I were in a hospital - I'd rather trust the doctors. Actually when I came round from my operation I asked the nurse to call my mum and let her know I was okay.

U got me there...O my God! But I don't mean it the way U do, because god means fortune, wealth, money, that's why its printed on the Allmighty Dollar. So I do say O my God when I can't find my money.

Yes. But I also say "Bless you" to people who sneeze. It's become a social ritual, no one actually thinks you will lose your soul if you sneeze.

I also say "Goodbye"(the phrase used to be "God be with you"). It's a habit.

yes but with a small 'g'. As the reverend said it's conditioning from parents - I still say 'drat' aswell because it was my mother's substitute for swearing.

Yes, but then I also say 'Kampai' when I am having a drink. I am not Japanese and I am not a Theist.

Even if I did, it's merely conditioning from my parents -- not some sort of tacit admission that the theists are right.

Sure, but I also talk about gremlins in my sock drawer and I don't really believe in them either.
