Notice: Rant time

Let me start off by saying that I'm not an Atheist. I happen to believe that there is or was a greater force which created life as we know it but he is not active in our lives today; I don't think he looked like Kenny G either.

I live in Houston, Texas and hang out with plenty of Christians throughout my week. I'm amazed at how many of them have sex, drink and judge other people just in a given week. Then, they goto church on Sunday's and repent so they can feel like they have some sort of moral authority over their peers who may not believe in the same things they do. Then there are others who don't even goto church. Now I understand that going to church isn't a requirement, or is it? I'm not really sure. Anyway, if the person was so passionate about God and living a moral life, they would be in church on Sunday.

If it appears that I am lumping all Christians into this category, I apologize. It is not my intent.

most people have their religion chosen by their parents, is this a sound method? suppose your parents religion does not ;have God's approval, The Bible urges people to choose life, but before you can make an intelligent choice, don't you think you should question what your religion teaches?

Irresponsible? I would hope that some of you would think about the data presented surrounding global warming and ask what your contribution is. I believe I am one of the many responsible for what is happening now. No, I am not an atheist but I'm not Christian. Thoughts? Namaste

I'm a Christian and although no man knows the day nor the hour , I think most of us agree that according to the Bible there's other things that must happen prior to His return .

But for the sake of thought and discussion. . . . . How Do You Think The People Of The World Would React If Jesus Came Back TOMORROW ?

If someone has a "stupid" name or goofy picture, do you take them less seriously?
Does the person's name or avatar picture have any affect at all on your response?
Or are you able to read the question and answer it objectively regardless or what the avatar is like?

Would you want to be warned if a hurricaine, a tornado or earthquake was about to strike???

Of course you would...
We develop warning systems to alert people a Storm is a comin'

When you warn people you save lives...

As a Californian I have heard forever the San Andreas is going to slip and a major earthquake on that fault could split California in half,,, When is it coming??? Don't know but it is coming..

So what is the difference? Is being warned the Storm of Prophecy is coming just when? not sure, but the signs are here just like signs in the ocean, in the earth and sky when calamity is coming about...

How about a Witness on this one??

1. What do you enjoy most about being Catholic?

2. Why are you Catholic and not a member of a Protestant denomination?

3. What do you struggle with? Are there any beliefs held by the Church you struggle to agree with?

4. If you could change anything about The Catholic Church (if anything), what would it be?

Thank you very much.

I see that lots of you claim to know what is the truth, but I ask what is it?

A poem- I cannot remember who wrote it-asks what is the truth? Truth is what man decides it to be.

I looked at the book and it didnt say anything that was different than what other christians believe. But I think there is more to them than the book says. What do they believe that makes them different from other Christians? They said they are going to come back next week. And by the way, how did they get my name and address?? When they came to my door they asked for me by name!

There has been much blood shed around the world. There are no signs of abatement and the hostilities appear to be on the rise between the Christian right (specially amongst Americans). The US policy towards the Islamic world and equally the actions of some muslim factions have made a worse situation into mission critical. What can people around the world do to (or suggest to their leaders) to make this world a more liveable place? How can people of different faiths, political ideologies, cultures, etc. get along with each other? How can we understand each other better? What will make us sit on the same table with respect for others and recognistion of each others rights?

Please recommend concrete steps. I know there are a lot of immature people out on the web. There is no way to avoid their comments. So, please, disregard them. This is an appeal to the thinking person who really wants to acheive world peace and common grounds for understanding between various nations and faiths.

So this last question asked people to state their IQ:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070815122734AAX5Exq

50% of the people who gave a numberical answer on the first page answered + 130. Several in the 165-170 range! Yikes!

This must mean the entire +130 IQ population visits R&S!

If you have an IQ of 165/170, why are you wasting away on R&S? Shouldn't you be curing HIV or cancer? How bout you get cracking on a Mid East peace agreement or a new Iraq policy?

Damn!

I have a question for those who know. I am under the understanding that Jehovah's Witness members believe that only 144,000 will make it into heaven. If that's the case, how can anyone want to be a part of that religion? If that is incorrect, someone please educate me. Thanks.

im not very religious but i do believe i guess a little...im slightly skeptical like my grandpa says " believe none of what you hear and half of what you see" but anyways with the saying that everything happens for a reason even if we dont understand it. why do ppl suffer especially children can you explain why children are abused and sexually abused --all the taboo things that happen in the world like hunger, aids, rape, incest, and everything. where is our god when he is needed the most. how do you make sense of all this. I dont understand how a child is put here to suffer and nothing else. anyone insight into this.?????
