I have a question for those who know. I am under the understanding that Jehovah's Witness members believe that only 144,000 will make it into heaven. If that's the case, how can anyone want to be a part of that religion? If that is incorrect, someone please educate me. Thanks.

144,000 anointed servants of Jehovah will be the ones selected going to Heaven. Many people take the term Jews, Tribes ect. literal, when this prophecy was presented in signs. And as you know, prophecies are presented in symbolically.

Are they actual Jews?

No, they are not actual Jewish people.

Galatians 3:26-29
26You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, 27for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Romans 2:29
29No, a man is a Jew if he is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a man's praise is not from men, but from God.

Are they all virgins?

No, the anointed calls of the 144,000 was talked about being talking about having wives and being married.

1 Corinthians 7

2But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband. 3The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband.

36If anyone thinks he is acting improperly toward the virgin he is engaged to, and if she is getting along in years and he feels he ought to marry, he should do as he wants. He is not sinning. They should get married. 37But the man who has settled the matter in his own mind, who is under no compulsion but has control over his own will, and who has made up his mind not to marry the virgin—this man also does the right thing.

A form of adultery is spiritual adultery. And the reason why they are called virgins is because they have not committed spiritual fornication. The whore of Nabylon is talked about committing fornication with the earth, and if you were a part of false religion (the Whore of Nabylon) then they have commited spiriutal adultrey.
All tribes?

Again, they are not tribes, because the actual tribes are located in the first book of Numbers chapters 1.
Obviously Judah is not a tribe, the the Levites was not considered a tribe at all.

The anointed is made up of Faithful servents of Jehovah, and they aren't all from the Jehovah Witnesses organization. Those who don't make it to Heaven will be here on earth.

Jesus said many are invited but FEW are chosen

Matthew 22:14

Great Crowd?

The first great crowd is numbered to a 144,000. But the other crowd is not a fix number as the 144,000

Revelation 7
9After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.

Are they before the throne in Heaven? No, because the bible says when Jesus comes, all the nations will be gathered before him on earth.

Matthew 25
31"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. 32All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

Before the throne? Yes, they can be before the throne or before God while still being here on earth. The bible says many servants were before God while still being here on earth.

2 Timothy 2:14, Romans 14:22 along with many other scriptures.

enōpion in the presence of, before, sight of ect.

The fact is that the vast majority of Witnesses hope to enjoy life ON EARTH forever, rather than in heaven. Jehovah's Witnesses understand heaven to refer to the dwelling place of spirit creatures such as Jesus and the angels. They understand the Scriptures to teach that exactly 144,000 humans will join Christ Jesus as kings and priests to administer God's Kingdom (which will soon replace all earthly governments).
(Daniel 2:44) God of heaven will set up a kingdom... It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite
(Revelation 14:1) Lamb [Jesus] standing upon the Mount Zion, and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand
(Revelation 20:6) they will be priests of God and of the Christ, and will rule as kings with him

The men and women who make up the 144,000 are selected by God from among two thousand years of Christians. Over whom will they rule? Over the vast majority of mankind, most of whom will have been raised from the dead after Armageddon.
(John 11:23,24) Jesus said to her: “Your brother will rise.” Martha said to him: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.”

Hell is NOT someplace/something mankind needs to fear; there is no suffering in the grave. Sometime after the resurrection, death and "hell" will themselves be destroyed.
(Ecclesiastes 9:5) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all
(Ecclesiastes 9:10) there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol ["hell"]
(Revelation 20:14) And death and Hades ["hell"] were hurled into the lake of fire

Almighty Jehovah God selects those few who have the heavenly calling. Each person "feels" his own hope and each person's hope remains unquestioned by his fellow Christians. Still the vast majority (literally more than 99.9%*) of Jehovah's Witnesses expect an EARTHLY hope, the same hope given to Adam and Eve.
(Genesis 1:28) God blessed them and God said to them: “Be fruitful and become many and fill THE EARTH and subdue it [caps added]
(Genesis 2:17) You must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die [so never eating from that tree means never dying]
