Vermont is the most liberal state in the country (they have a senator who is a socialist, for crying out loud). But you never see a hurricane slam into the coast of Lake Champlian, do you?

For instance...if you could receive certain privileges for domestic partnership benefits, etc. (in the event being in a homosexual relationship awarded you certain benefits, rights or privileges you currently did not have)?

Or....hypothetical situation...Your gay Uncle Charlie passes away and in his will it says he'll leave $2.5 Million dollars to the first of his nieces or nephews who "comes out".

Eventhough you're straight...and christian....would you do it???

I read it an hear it all the time, and everytime they say, they think they have layed out something profound, never before heard, real progresive. Weve all heard it, the infamous response to any criticism about violence done in the name of allah, "have you ever met a Muslim", "I know a good Muslim, so dont bother me with details", "I visited an Islamic country once...".

You know, many people in London also knew, what they described as "very nice Muslims" people and were shocked to find out that they were the animals behind the London bmbings? Ever read the accounts of people who knew these Islamists before they murdered for Allah?

Wait a second, do you think its possible that they act one way, all the time harboring intense hatred for the culture they live in? No, thats not possible is it...its not possible to feel extreme hate and also act nice based on religious instruction is it?

Almost all armed conflict worldwide is Islamic, what could possibly speak louder?

A questioner (at http://tinyurl.com/2mzpns ) asks people to pray that the she keeps her job. I'm sincerely interested how such a thing would work - especially if God has a plan, and has already decided the outcome

1 God plans for her to lose her job. Impressed by the number of prayers, he changes the plan.

2 God plans for her to keep her job. Unimpressed by the low turnout of prayers, he changes the plan.

3 God has plans for her job. Prayers are insufficient to change the plan.

4 God has no plans for her job, but intervenes based on the prayers.

5 God has no plans for her job, and allows the issue to work itself out regardless of prayers.

6 God plans for her to lose her job, and prayers can't change it. But a last-minute prayer from the Pope [or similar] is sufficient to cause the change.

7 God has plans for her job. He knows about the prayers in advance. The plan goes ahead as intended.

Are any of these close to the way it works? If not, how, then?

Have you ever gotten into an argument and the other person actually seriously says something along the lines of, "You're right, I'm wrong, I lose. I'm a dumb ***. Man I feel so stupid."
Has this ever happened? (Maybe not these exact words, but something like it, where the person actually admits to losing?)
Has the other person actually ever shown any signs of defeat or surrender?
Or do people always try to save face?

A god is
a superhuman being or spirit worshiped as having power over nature or human fortunes; ∎ an image, idol, animal, or other object worshiped as divine or symbolizing a god

I have now started worshipping fire. You can't deny fire is real. It cleary has power over nature and human fortune. So my god is real. No where in the definition of a god does it have to be sentient. A god does not have to create the universe. Although combustion on some level probably did have a part in it's creation and life could not exist without it. Atheists may no longer say there is no god. Take that losers.
On a side note this also disproves the christian god. Their god says he is the only god and since I have a proven different god I win there too.

(There may be some flaws in this logic. Ignore them please.)

I've heard evolutionists making all sorts of wild claims on this board. For example, some of them say we came from monkeys, others say we came from apes. Some people say we came from single-celled organisms. Others say the entire universe was created from nothing, so we came from nothing.

So which is it? According to your own theory, we came from all these different things. Is it possible that all these different things would magically combine to make humans? Obviously not. The fact that evolution says we came from all these different things (bacteria, apes, monkeys, nothing, mammals, etc.) proves that Intelligent Design must be true.

The only way that a monkey could be combined with an ape and bacteria and a bunch of other stuff to make a human is if somebody took the trouble to combine them. Otherwise you'd end up with a monkey with ape legs and a bacterial infection. It's obvious that only God could combine all these things to get a human.

Are these people so careless in their reading, that they miss all the conspicuous lies in this primitive book, starting on the very first page?
Or, are they just so desperate to believe it, that they will pretend not to notice how silly and childish the stories are?
Why would they not be interested enough in this topic, to study the history of this book, even to see who wrote it, or when it was written?

The Messianists and the Christians detested one another with the peculiarly virulent loathing that seemed to characterise Jewish religious controversies. Paul’s version won through a historical accident. As we have seen, the Jews broke into open rebellion just before the end of the reign of Nero, and he was forced to send his general Vespasian to try and subdue them. But in the year after Nero’s suicide, Rome had four emperors. The first was Galba, the Spanish governor who had joined Vindex in the rebellion. Within a short time the Praetorian Guard found him too strict and closefisted, and murdered him. They appointed Nero’s friend Otho, from Portugal. Meanwhile, the German troops had proclaimed their general Vitellius emperor, and he marched on Rome and defeated Otho. Otho committed suicide. Then Vespasian, still on the other side of the Mediterranean, was proclaimed emperor by his troops. He seized Egypt and cut off Rome’s grain.
