i would have no problem with evolution if you could explain to me how a blob of nothign turned into as detailed of creatures and the earth as we have. could a blob created a hummingbird, which beats its wings so fast taht they would fall of, but God created that not to happen. could a blob create such a complex solar system that revolves around each other without never running into another planet? could a blob have created 10,000,000 different species of bugs that all work differently? let me ask one more question:
if you take a watch apart, you have lots of different pieces to it. you couldn't just let it sit on the table and expect that after millions of years it would just put itself together into a watch. if you could explain any of this stuff, please let me know. but i have proof in the Bible, proof in God's creation, proof through science, and proof in my heart that there is an Awesome God who created all of this. think about that please. and let me know. http://www.sycamorechurch.com/

It depends on wether you are talking about macro or micro evolution. Do remember that evolution is a theory, not a fact. Interestingly, the New York Times recently published an article called "Big Bang not yet dead but in decline" saying that many of North Americans are now abandoning the Big Bang theory.
In any case, I believe that God created the world out of nothing just like the Bible records. I do of course aknowledge that species do "evolve" over generations and that's all fine and dandy.
As far as evolution meaning it all started with one microbe and went from there, it's wrong. And I'm not going to just say it's wrong because the Bible says so. If you want to get all sciency with me, consider this:
1. The Second Law of Thermodynamics says that all systems tend to become disordered and simpler. This contradicts what the same scientists say happened with evolution.
2. The Law of Energy Conservation says nothing is being created or destroyed, by evolution teaches that "creation" is continually being accomplished by nature's evolutionary processes. This is contradictory.
3. Evolution is based on the principle of survival of the fittest. However, survival of the fittest is a destructive pattern, eliminating weaker species (thus working backwards from what evolution is trying to accomplish).
4. If the Big Bang actually happened, why isn't everything shooting out in a line instead of circling around? Why is Saturn spinning backwards? :S
5. Consider this demonstration. If you popped a balloon, could you gather all the air back together again? Of course not. But thats what the Big Bang teaches...that matter exploded and then miraculously gathered back together again.

I know nothing I can say will ever persuade you, and that's cool, but science is contradicting it's own foundation by teaching evolution. Of that even you can admit.

What makes you think Theists have some misconception of Evolution? I know most creationists do, but Theists, whats with that?

Well, evolution is the process that originated life's diversity here on earth. It works when the environment selects, in a population of a species, some heritable characteristics (the ones that are result of gene expression), as being good or bad. If the characteristics helps the individual to survive, than he does, and so his offspring. If the characteristic is bad, than he dies and does not pass the characteristic to his offspring (because he didn't get to mate).

Now could you please describe me your conception of theist, because it has nothing to do with knowing evolution

A pseudoscientific collection of "just-so" fairy tales that posits that all of life descended, through mutations and natural selection (and perhaps one or more other unknown mechanisms), from an unproven and unprovable common ancestor based almost entirely on the logical fallacy that similarities between skeletal features (whether from fossil remains [and their imaginative reconstructions] or from current living creatures), embryonic structures, and DNA material must (not only "CAN", but "MUST", despite how unprovable such a belief is, since no one was around to see it and it is neither testable or repeatable) indicate that all species are somehow related.

First I am a Thesist and a self proclaimed non demoniation Christian (meaning i wont follow any denomination but rather what i believe is true).

I'll start off with the beginings of the universe, the Big Bang. I have never taken a class on the Big Bang but i have spent hours on wikipedia learning about it. Also i am reading Neil deGrasse Tyson's books, to furthur my knowlege. I have taken a limited amount of Physics classes and from what i recall it fits into the Big Bang Theory. So i believe in the Big Bang Theory. Not String Theory. I have no professional opinion on why Big Bang is better but from reading BB fits Occam's razor. My understanding of it is that Anti-Matter and Matter collided realesing greats amount of energy which thrusted particles throughout the universe. The "time scale" of how matter formed, first quarks, then hydrogen atoms all fits into what i learned in my College Physics class. Then Gravity took over forming stars and planets. Stars have burned, burned out and so on for billions of years. And our sun is a primary sequence star in the middle of its life.

Earth which came about through the Big Bang has ben around for about 4.5 billion years. With life existing for about 3billion years. Life which was not created by a creator but came about. RNA, Bubble hypthosis, Miller Urey experiment all seem logical, although untested. I believe that sometime soon one of these will be tested positive. However we must keep in mind that 1.5 billion years is a LONG time. Because the most important thing to understand when dealing w/ evolution is time. Lots can happen over a billion years. These early singled celled organisms soon split into two groups, achrea and bacteria. Achrea are the most like us. Then came the evolution of the nuclues and organelles. (See endosymbiotic theory). This lead to the creation of protists. Protist split into many groups two major one leading to plants and the other animals and Fungi. I do not recall the specifics but Green Algae is what eventually evolved into plants. Protists became multicellular and became the ancesters of Fungi and animals. Somewhere along time there was splint between Fungi and animals. So there is a general path of life. Some odd proof for this are uncoding regions of junk DNA that are idenical between mice and Humans. Also Telomeres (the end of Chromosomes) are found at the Centromeres (middle of Chromosomes) of the Human 2 Chromosome. Showing the Fusion of Chromosome 2a and 2b which caused a departure in linage from Chimpazees. For we share a common ancestor.

As far as the mechanism for evolution it is Natural Selection. Natural Selection selects for the genes that are most beneficail for an organism to survive. There are Disruptive and stabalizing selection. This shows how extemes can be favored in a population and how extremes are be harmful. Also there is direction selection, selection towards a specific trait. ie Human Hieght. This can bring abour new species for the a similar population that does not undergo this selection will remain the same while the other changes. Dirsruptive selection splits the genome of a poplution. This is most likely the cause for new species. Because the population becomes split in two. There is also sexual selection. This is responsible for Feathering and Antlers on Males. There is also two types of speciation. Sympathric and Allopatric. Sympatric or "same Country" shows how a population can lead to two different species. Most likely a result of Disruptive selection, die to the introdcution of a new niche. There is an example of this with some sort of fruit flies in believe in America. Allopatric "other country" is the speciation when a population becomes physically seperated. Then a selection trend on one of the populations will result in the creation of a new species.

However as a Theist i believe that God used the Big Bang and evolution to create man. aka Theistic Evolution. Now to prove some things that previous people have stated.

1-The Second Law of Thermodynamic says thngs will become more disorded in an ISOLATED system. The earth is not islated it has the sun giving it energy. Remember no sun no life.

2-The Laws of Conservation of Energy say that energy can not be destoyed or created. RNA become a cell has very little to do with energy creation. the energy of the cell is the same as the RNA and the componets that then made the cell.

3-The only thing evolution is trying to accomplish is to allow organisms to survive and pass of their traits.

4-We are shooting out in a line, the universe is expanding as we speak. We are also moving in a circle aound the sun due to its gravitational pull. Saturn spinning backwards has nothing to due with the Big Bang

5-Matter=Energy=Matter. Thats how matter can come back together. Remeber that whole Conservation of Energy thing you talked about early.

Edit-Ohh man I typed all of this for nothing??? Oh well it made me feel smart.

An undirected technique wherein organic determination (survival of the fittest) acts upon mutations (copying errors interior the genetic code) over thousands and thousands of years; all residing issues are changed descendants of a effortless ancestor that lived interior the distant previous (effortless descent). Neo-Darwinism (or "modern evolutionary synthesis") provides the present information of genetics to Darwin’s techniques. yet, there are particular issues like the Cambrian explosion, residing fossils, intense convergent evolution, abrupt visual charm and stasis interior the fossil record, the bounds to synthetic determination, nanotechnology interior the cellular, the staggering standards of fixing from unmarried celled life to genuine multicellular life, the priority of evolution producing effective factors that require distinctive mutations in the past gaining a earnings, etc. that reason us to discover Darwinian evolution doubtless unlikely.

The short answer, in my own words, is mutation in response to environmental or external stimuli.

As with most of the others, my belief in evolution does not invalidate my belief in a higher power whom I choose to call God.

Macro-evolution, in a nutshell, is the idea that single-celled organisms gained new genetic information over millions and billions of years, and eventually arrived at “higher life-forms” such as man.
