My guess would be because we are in the middle of a huge religious war with them. The way that women are treated is horrid. Have you always been a Muslim? Have you researched all of the beliefs and practices? It's for reasons like that that give Muslims a bad name. Of course they are not all bad. Just like all catholic priests are not child molesters. It's just a little scarier since all the suicide bombings and things, so people tend to shy away from people with "towels" on their heads. You should not take it personally, it's just the way the world is right now. It's sad. Instead of thinking everyone needs to have the same beliefs, people just need to accept differences and stop the violence. The entire world will never agree to just one religion. It's not even possible.

Because the Muslim community as a whole does not a single thing to the extremists in the community. All that they do is vocally denounce them. Actions speak louder than words. Like the poster before me said, until Fatwahs are declared against the extreme Muslims, the rest of the world will "keep on hatin"...it's a simple equation: Keep promoting television shows like the recent ones being shown on palestinian tv in the gaza strip, keep receiving profiling/hate/mistrust.

They blame it on the media and current events...but i know for a fact that muslims way back were hated aswell. Lets not blame it on the media, afterall we choose what to believe in. Any woman wearing a hijab would get racist remarks and disgusting looks...what for? Is it looking different? or practising a belief? I really dont know. But what I do know is whats going on in the world now is giving many the excuse and oppurtunity to show their hate.

Was it the murder of the Israeli athletes?
Was it all those hi-jackings in the 1970s?
Was it the taking of the American Embassy and holding the Americans as hostages for over a year?
Was it the first attack on the World Trade Center?
Was it the bombing of the Kobar Towers?
Was it the attack on the USS Cole?
Was it the second attack on the World Trade Center?
Was it the attacks in Spain?
Was it the attacks in London?
Was it the attacks in Australia?
Boy, I just don't know. Why DO Americans hate muslims? Why can't we see they just want to live in peace?

I don't see Christians or Atheists fighting each other and dragging the rest of the world down with them.
I do see that from the Muslim community in the Middle East though.

As muslims we are the easiest target, many believe all the media hype about us. but hey we need to set a good example God willing so that we can change people misconceptions of us.
