Stupidity, lunacy and superstition [as defined by almost everyone on R S]comprise my entire spiritual belief system.

Every time I've mentioned any portion here there's been universal ridicule.

I don't mind, and I don't say much about what I know to be true.

But what I do say concerning atheists, Christianity and other doctrinal faiths is sometimes a mirror of that scorn. My own flaw, not yours.

But because it's an admitted flaw of mine, what's in it for YOU to become angry about?

The reason I ask is because Jehovah's Witnesses seem to think Mary is part of the Trinity doctrine. In their brochure "Should you believe in the Trinity?" they say: "If the Trinity is false, it is degrading to Almighty God to call anyone his equal, and even worse to call Mary 'the mother of God'... Does it honor God to call anyone his equal? Does it honor him to call Mary 'the mother of God' and the co-redemptress... between the Creator and his creatures as does the New Catholic Encyclopaedia?"

This gives the impression that Mary, being God's mother and a co-redemptress is part of the Trinity teaching.

Would you please clarify your teachings on the Trinity to show that Mary has nothing to do with it? I uphold the Trinitarian doctrine of the Triune nature of the Godhead, but there is no room for Mary to be included. I think the JW's may have twisted Catholic teachings to suit their own beliefs and confused the issue by bringing Mary into it.

Me and my boyfriend have recently decided to devote our lives to christianity. Every time we have physical contact, its out of love. How could this be wrong? We have discussed whether to wait till marriage, or if it is still right to God if its out of love? So what was considered marriage to the bible? Did they still have legal documentation of marriage back then, or was it just when two people loved on another and devoted their lives?

If you give the sources, anyone who disagrees simply says that the authors were prejudice. If you do not, anyone who disagrees discounts the information as "made up". Even if you give sources directly from the criminal justice system, it is ignored as being skewed for political reasons. Why bother?

Seems that whenever a discussion fails to progress (in the way the debate over God's existence has), there is an underlying element that has gone unaddressed.

What do you think the disagreement is really about?

And the R&S board in many respects is like an extended family.....

A lot of us "know" each other by experience well enough, though there are many members we don't see so often.

We might not all like each other. Some of us are downright hostile to each other..... But even to those we don't much like, we can probably see some sort of worth in their presence. Once you oppose someone long enough, it becomes very odd and uncomfortable if they just vanish away...... rather like losing a brother or sister.
Even the ones you hate, you love really.

I wouldn't go so far as to start asking who fills what role, as there are clearly too many people to fill all the conventional roles fairly.... You'd have to extend the family pretty far.

I do feel somewhat like I'm just the "couch dude" of the family though... The squatter who has just been living on the couch since time immemorial, often forgotten and generally preferring it that way.

In the bible, it's clear who Jesus parents are. Jesus was conceived through the Holy Spirit in the Virgin Mary. Joseph was Jesus's stepfather, who could trace his lineage back to King David.

So, this got me thinking, who's gonna end up being parents to the Beast? Could the Beast also likewise have some sort of immaculate conception?

If bible is true word of God, why are men abusing it against women?

They use this excuse to abuse, torment, murder and rape women. The most common example is "Women be submissive to your husbands"

A LOT of men took that as "Ok then that gives me the right to treat my wife as a slave, beat her when she disobeys and rape her when she refuses to have sex with me"

Even Pastors descriminate against women. They say that women should NOT speak in church, they should be seen not heard. That they cannot speak to the pastor for advice but go to another woman. That women are nothing but objects that bring men down to temptation and that they can't control themselves so that means: They cannot be alone with another man, if in a meeting with a pastor even with the husband or another guy, she must bring another woman.

Is this what God intended? For women to feel guilty about their own gender, to take full responsibility of men not being able to control themselves?

What's the big deal about eating of the tree of knowledge? Not that I believe scriptures are literal. But ok, God sits man in front of a tree then tells him not to eat from it, for no reason at all. After Eve comes about the serpent tells her that her eyes will be open if she eats and that this "Group" that refers to themselves as "us" was actually lying telling Adam on the day that he eats of the tree he will surely die, which was a bold face lie. The serpent actually told the truth if we get technological, their eyes were opened and when they ate of the tree they DID not die, what happened afterwards was by this "groups" own doing. They then shortened Adam/Eve's life spawn and put suffering on them, because they knew that the tree of knowledge lead to the tree of life, so in order that they would not BECOME LIKE THEM, become greater then they, they casted them out of paradise.

So how lied? Who did wrong? Again I am just speaking reflective to what is written, this story is allegory
