They strongly recommend trades and strongly discourage post secondary education.

Why. esp since higher earning potential allows for more time at home, at service ??

Would you be upset? Would you want it changed? Why are you justified in that scenario but we atheist aren't allowed to want ''in God we trust" changed?

I am an antagonist in a VERY Mormon community, and I can't handle people blinding dissing the LDS. (It makes me very mad!)

Yet someone can say something that diggs at the core of who I am, and I'll want to continue the conversation.

Also, all the mormons I know are very good natured about how people view their relgion. They realize it has its weird parts, and that it has a past.

Today, Mormonism is one of the relgions I admire the most. I think they have a beautiful doctorine, and powerful practices.

I do not fancy myself a future converter, for many of the same reasons people make fun of the relgion (excluding the idiots who have no idea what they are talking about- which I'm bound to get a few of in this message)

And isn't it amazing how almost every Christian basically gave an answer that differed from what the non-Christians claimed they believed? Thanks all the same, but I was under the impression that we could speak for ourselves. Or are some of you simply worried that what we say might make sense that you have to go around constructing straw men to parody?

hi guys, sorry I know this isn't R&S (even though I thought I was going to die!)....but I'm learning to drive and yesterday while driving home I lost control of the dang steering wheel and got into a fender bender with another car. I was in complete shock and this guy (thank goodness) was so nice. I dented his car bad and was crying b/c of the shock and my ego took a big hit b/c it was entirely MY fault. My brother was teaching me. I don't want to be afraid to try again, I really need my license at 31 yrs old with children. Any suggestions on how to "move on" and continue will be VERY appreciated. Thanks everyone.

What is the definition of "faith" when used as an answer to the question, "Why do you believe in God?"

Hope? Trust? Intuition?

Is "tolerance" really such a good thing? Websters defines tolerance as "capacity to endure pain or hardship:the capacity of the body to endure or become less responsive to a substance (as a drug) or a physiological insult especially with repeated use or exposure". So how is tolerance a good thing? If you believe you know what is right, are you being true to yourself AND your belief by being to "tolerant"? Isn't tolerance just a way of giving up?

taken out of the equation, removed from your consciousness, who would you blame/credit for the things you percieve these two are in charge of? In other words, these two characters are used as a templet for your judging of many things. They both are blamed and credited for many things. What if they were not available to use as a templet? Who would you blame, or give credit to, or judge others by?
This is not meant to be offensive. It is just real obvious that there is a huge blame/credit issue among Christians regarding themselves and others.

My question arises out of this thought that was presented to me from a Born Again Christian, who claimed that "Once Saved, always Saved." His basic supposition was that once you ask Jesus into your heart, the Holy Spirit enters and you are Saved through Grace, and your sins are forgiven (Perhaps I don't have the exact mechanics or terminology correct, but a grain of salt for me will get you to where I'm comming from, indulgence please.)

Now, given such a person, who has been Saved, his soul is, as per your religion, Heaven bound upon death. My question arises as to what happens is something catastrophic should happen, resulting in complete personality change. Perhaps a head wound resulting in brain damage or amnesia. This previously Saved person then flips to the polar opposite (which yes, can happen) and becomes a total jerk, and an avid sinner. This person repents nothing an is an avid sinner.

I've been curious to find out why the Bible never included us.
I thought that maybe we are the descendants of Cain (who killed his brother Abel and went his own way),but again whereever we came from the Bible talks about Noah's ark.
If Noah went into his ark with his family and two of every animal including insects and the world was completely destroyed with flood, then aren't blacks part of Noah's crew aboard the ark???????
No one survived the flood except those on the ark so if we desended from Cain and were as evil as every race thinks then where did come from again?
All the evil people died during the flood.
Those aboard the ark settled somewhere after the flood and then evil started taking roots in them.

Can anybody help out with some clarifications?
Tell me what you know from the Bible about us.

and lastly, racist people around here can take a hike.
Racist, enjoy your summer and don't come here.

STORY OF ELIJAH

The Sunday school teacher was carefully explaining the story of Elijah the Prophet and the false prophets of Baal. She explained how Elijah built the altar, put wood upon it, cut the steer in pieces, and laid it upon the altar. And then, Elijah commanded the people of God to fill four barrels of water and pour it over the altar. He had them do this four times "Now, said the teacher, "can anyone in the class tell me why the Lord would have Elijah pour water over the steer on the altar?"
A little girl in the back of the room started waving her hand, "I know! I know!" she said, "To make the gravy!"

LOT'S WIFE

The Sunday School teacher was describing how Lot's wife looked back and turned into a pillar of salt, when little Jason interrupted, "My Mummy looked back once, while she was driving," he announced triumphantly, "and she turned into a telephone pole!"

GOOD SAMARITAN

A Sunday school teacher was telling her class the story of the Good Samaritan, in which a man was beaten, robbed and left for dead. She described the situation in vivid detail so her students would catch the drama. Then, she asked the class, "If you saw a person lying on the roadside, all wounded and bleeding, what would you do?" A thoughtful little girl broke the hushed silence, "I think I'd throw up."

DID NOAH FISH?

A Sunday school teacher asked, "Johnny, do you think Noah did a lot of fishing when he was on the Ark ?" "No," replied David. "How could he, with just two worms?"

HIGHER POWER

A Sunday school teacher said to her children, " We have been learning how powerful kings and queens were in Bible times. But, there is a higher power. Can anybody tell me what it is?"
One child blurted out, "Aces!"

MOSES &THE RED SEA

Nine-year-old Joey, was asked by his mother what he had learned in Sunday school. "Well, Mom, our teacher told us how God sent Moses behind enemy lines on a rescue mission to lead the Israelites out of Egypt When he got to the Red Sea , he had his army build a pontoon bridge and all the people walked across safely. Then, he radioed headquarters for reinforcements. They sent bombers to blow up the bridge and all the Israelites were saved." "Now, Joey, is that really what your teacher taught you?" his mother asked. "Well, no, Mom. But, if I told it the way the teacher did, you'd never believe it!"

THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD

A Sunday School teacher decided to have her young class memorize one of the most quoted passages in the Bible; Psalm 23. She gave the youngsters a month to learn the verse. Little Rick was excited about the task -- but, he just couldn't remember the Psalm. After much practice, he could barely get past the first line.
On the day that the kids were scheduled to recite Psalm 23 in front of the congregation, Rickey was very nervous.

When it was his turn, he stepped up to the microphone and said proudly, "The Lord is my Shepherd, and that's all I need to know! Amen

Church Smiles

There was a very gracious lady who was mailing an old family Bible to her brother in another part of the country. "Is there anything breakable in here?" asked the postal clerk. "Only the Ten Commandments," answered the lady.

While driving in Pennsylvania , a family caught up to an Amish carriage. The owner of the carriage obviously had a sense of humor, because attached to the back of the carriage was a hand printed sign... "Energy efficient vehicle: Runs on oats and grass. Caution: Do not step in exhaust.

Sunday after church, a Mom ask ed her very young daughter what the lesson was about. The daughter answered, "Don't be scared, you'll get your quilt." Needless to say, the Mom was perplexed. Later in the day, the pastor stopped by for tea and the Mom asked him what that morning's Sunday school lesson was about. He said "Be not afraid, thy comforter is coming."

Give me a sense of humor, Lord, Give me the grace to see a joke,
To get some humor out of life, And pass it on to other folk.

Insect. Afew months ago I was visiting in south eastern San Diego county. I was in a backyard (near creek)when a LARGE bug flew toward me, at first I thought it was a bird, as it got closer I saw it was oblong, shiny blue black on top, shiny bright orange(almost rust color) on underside and the longest shiny black legs I have ever seen on a bug. It frightened me, it lit on the ground , but didn't stay put long enough for me to get close. I have looked in many insect books to try and find it and have had no luck. Have any of you seen anything similar?

Have you ever sat back and really thought about your acceptence that a god exists? Have you thought about it logically? About how probably it is? Have you compared your beliefs with that of a child believing in fairies?

To me, the very concept of a god is 100% improbable and illogical.
