I found this insect in my yard yesterday, it looked like a ridiculously big wasp with really, really long legs. Any ideas what it is? Thanks! =0)

Something that I would immediately squash with my shoe!

I'm not sure what area you are in so don't know what kind of creepy crawly things are common to where you live but hornets are larger than wasps and common where I live. Either way you can visit Lowes Home Improvement or Home Depot and ask a garden specialist to help you pick out some outdoor insect killer to spray around the exterior of your house (you certainly wouldn't want one of those little buggers getting inside...*shivers*)

It's okay that this is off topic, too...I posted a question about spiders here just the other week. :-)

That could be the queen, a kind of dragonfly, or a yellowjacket.
Also a paperwasp. The bad summer brings them out.

It's probably a Ceropales maculata - a.k.a. a Pompilid wasp.

Sigh of the End Times? We'd better ask Crimson and Clover.

As I was doing my search, Got_air got it... :-(
