If you don't believe God exists why can't you leave it at that? I don't believe in Santa clause and I don't waste my time on forums arguing his exisitence. What drives you to spend so much of your time arguing about nothing? You all just seem very foolish to me. Most of you seem intelligent have you nothing better to do than argue with believers? Believers believe God exists and it becomes their religion. You don't believe. So why when you denounce the evils of religion do you go and create a religion out of anti religion. All of you athiests that actively post on R&S are as bad or worst then the believers because you spend your time arguing about the exsistence of nothing!

Exodus 21:1 -- 21:7
These are the ordinances that you shall set before them:
When you buy a male Hebrew slave, he shall serve six years, but in the seventh he shall go out a free person, without debt. If he comes in single, he shall go out single; if he comes in married, then his wife shall go out with him. If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the wife and her children shall be her master's and he shall go out alone. But if the slave declares, "I love my master, my wife, and my children: I will not go out a free person," then his master shall bring him before God. He shall be brought to the door or the doorpost; and his master shall pierce his ear with an awl; and he shall serve him for life.

Exodus 21:20,21
When a slaveowner strikes a male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies immediately, the owner shall be punished. But if the slave survives a day or two, there is no punishment; for the slave is the owner's property.

I'd like to know people's own personal reasons for considering homo/bisexuality to be wrong~

This is your own reasons for why you consider it wrong, not because your religion says it's sinful or immoral, etc - YOUR reasons.

Additionally if you weren't bound by your religious convictions would you have a problem with homo/bisexuality?

Thanks

In a recent question, a person (and I use the term loosly) named "a psychic" said that Christianity would die out in about a hundred years. I've heard similar comments from others, and I just have to laugh at the stupidity of such a statement. Emporers, Czars, dictators and despots have tried to wipe out the Church for 2000 years, with no success. From the persecutions in Rome in the 2nd & 3rd centuries to the Communists in the 20th century and everything in betweeen, not only have their attempts to destroy the Church failed, but the Church has grown to span the globe. The office of the pope is the oldest continuing office on earth. Do godless people think that their half-baked intellectualism will actually topple the Body of Christ - the Church? The Church is the Bride of Christ: It is indestructable. Oh, it may go underground from time to time in different lands, but it can never die. When Christ comes again you will see Him and His Bride united in glory - no man can prevent that.

We can't separate ourselves sufficiently from the news of the world to avoid knowing about how religious fanatics of every description sometimes get carried away with their beliefs and begin killing people indiscriminately, or mass murder/suicides.

9/11's a prime example. The Mormon incidents here and there over the past 30 years or so. Jim Jones et al. The Heaven's Gate thing. Satan Worshipers in Houston a couple of decades ago.

Then there's the Charlie Whitman phenomenon. It sometimes doesn't appear to be religiously/spiritually motivated when a sniper starts picking off everyone in sight. But sometimes in the aftermath, it turns out everyone was a bit concerned about the guy before it happened.

Doesn't Nihilsim, carried to an extreme, resemble a solitary form of Jim Jonesism?

It is a historical fact that the christian church has spread their belief in gods love through violance. Why are they so against truth? Is that not what they claim to hold most dear?

a growing interest in the Pagan / Occult paths, isn it right to assume that traditional and conventional religions have failed miserably and are now becoming obsolete?

Or rather, can he create perfection at all? Afterall, the implication from christians is that only god is perfect.... and I'll agree that this world has nothing resembling perfection in it.... So why the freg doesn't it? Either god didn't want to make a perfect world (which begs the question of what such a choice was meant to achieve)... or couldn't....

But anyhow.... think of the implications if the christian god could and did make a perfect replica of himself.
I mean... all us folks on the athiestic end of the spectrum wouldn't even notice any difference..... but the religious folks would go totally nuts! ^_^

While for years I believed all this I have been questioning it lately.

Researching both the area of where the Church came from and the teachings of Bible alone have created more questions than answers.

I can see that the bible itself says that it isint the primary authority but that the Church and tradition is. Now I know people dont like to hear that but the bible says that.

As for the origins of the church Peter could have been the first pope, it says it in the bible. Its just confusing, there was no bible for the first 4 centuries yet the church flourished, in fact because of cost most bibles were not even avaiable for the next 1200-1300 years.

The church still flourished and was one church. As soon as people God the idea of taking tradition and historical interpretation away from the bible it all went nuts.

There are tons of bible churches all interpreting differently, some say only the unimportant parts but how do you define whats important or unimportant. Confussed

If it did not then why have JW's added it despite dire Biblical warnings about adding to or taking away from scripture. If removed from the NT an entirely different light is cast upon the role and deity of Jesus. Has a grave sin been commited? I need to know because I am a doubting Jehovahs Witness. If the name of Jehovah has been added where it should not exist then most of what I believe can be called into question. JW's please don't bother telling me to speak to the elders, Iv'e already listened to their version of why it has been added. If there is any historical evidence of it being present in 1st/2nd century documents, before the supposed great apostacy that seemingly removed it in the 4th century then I will stand repentant.

How is it possible that they all wrote pretty much the same story?

What is your opinion?

My opinion is, the origin of the English Bibles of today can be traced to a time when men, supposedly under the divine inspiration of God, first wrote the books of the Bible. Before the fourth century CE, there were more that 30 different gospels, some of which can be found on the Gnostic & Apocrypha page. Many were officially outlawed during the Council Nicaea in 325 CE and the Council of Laodicea in 364 CE.

These councils eventually agreed on what is now considered the "word of God", under the direction of Constantine, collating the ACCEPTED teachings into a single comprehensive book.

The ENTIRE bible that is declared to be the 'word of God' is only the word of the few men that attended the Councils of Nicea.
