These are just opinions.
The Bible and the Koran and any 'holy' text where all written by humans (with 'divine' intervention).
Humans have always thought of themselves as powerful and captivating - as Gods.
This is just a way of Glorifying the self. At the time these books were written, nobody knew of Evolution.
It is only recently that Charles Darwin proposed his theory of evolution. Only after this do some of us compare to 'monkeys'. Though we evolved from the same tree, we definitely are NOT monkeys...we are apes.
Speaking of God...why would he look like anything...he could be the most beautiful being you could possibly imagine...the very sentence "...in His image" was written to glorify the human race...now what if the actual text was "...in his spitting image!"?!!

It says that G-d created us in His image. What's that supposed to mean? G-d created you and me in His image in the same way that an author creates all his characters in his image. Each character in the story expresses a different aspect of the author. Even the interaction between the characters is in some way an unfolding of the truth of the author. Not literally aka physically. G-d is not a physical being.

Humans have similar physical traits as Apes and monkeys but we do not look like them. For those of you that believe in evolution, here is something for you: We are regarded on a higher evolutionary scale, smarter, stronger, and more dangerous, let me see you kick an apes ***, I think that would be some proof against evolution.

Suppose God made his worse picture looking like the best looking person on earth. Don't undergrade your species. Human is beautiful.

I agree if you mean we have the superficial similarites with apes (as in, two eyes, a similar nose, similar ears, etc.) But if God exists..I believe that he looks like Morgan Freeman...but on a more serious note...man created God in his image, and endowed him with higher powers over the Earth because early man didn't know that much about the world that he lived in.

I didn't even SEE the first question - so I guess I don't understand it.
I think that "own image" means that:
God is Love
I am Love
God is Light
I am Light
God is Beauty
I am Beauty
All of the things God is - I am.
I don't think God looks like anything. God is a Power - and Power doesn't look like anything. God is not physical - except for when It is working through us.

Regardless, what makes you think it is talking about a physical image? How can you have a physical image of something that is not physical, in this case, God?
