I just read an article which stated the ACLU is run by Leftwing Atheist Jews.
Is it possible to be an atheist and jewish at the same time?

the statement was found here

you have to go down a bit, look for the heading ACLU.
Funny thing is I did some research and this guy took the article from Pat Boone, here
http://www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2006/8/28/135205.shtml
and edited the article to fit his apparent agenda.
Although Pat Boone had a nice phrase that is coming up in my next question.

To some religous zealot who thinks their way is the ONLY way, a jew MIGHT be an atheist, which would go to show their ignorance.
I think that is the funniest statement though! And a journalist writes this ~smh~

My roommate is a leftwing atheist Jew, and proud of it.
Hey - he's a lawyer too, but although he donates to the ACLU, he is not a board member.
Of course you can be an atheist Jew. Isaac Asimov was another famous example. Not all Jewish people practice Judaism.
To clarify: You are considered Jewish if your mother is Jewish. It is a racial identifier. You are atheist if you do not believe in a god. Those two are not mutually exclusive.
Let me guess... the article was written by Ann Coulter?

Leftwing Atheist Jews? Very Funny !
IMO, All smart Jews are atheists in fact, most smart people are atheists.
There are, of course, smart true believers but this can be explained with a complete workup by competent psychiatric analysis. lol

There are many Jewish atheists. I think they are called apostates.
Judaism is a way of life as well as a religion. Some think of it more as a nation, the common language being Hebrew, and the central location being Jerusalem.

This foolishness began while Republican candidate Michelle Bachman mis stated the birthplace of John Wayne the actor as Waterloo Iowa extremely of Winterset Iowa. Liberals searching for a risk to Palinize yet another lady Republican pounced on the possibility to accuse her of blending up John Wayne with the serial killer John Wayne Gacy who commited a number of his crimes in Waterloo Iowa. Republicans have been rapid to show out that Gacy replaced right into a registered Democrat. i assume it extremely is what passes for political debate at the instant.

I've always wondered if you could be Jewish, but an atheist. Like say, "I'm Israeli, but since I don't worship with the Torah, the Law, et. al, I'm not Jewish", or can you separate the two? I'm not trying to be rude, just wondering if "jewish" is the religion or the race, or both? Thanks.

You can be Jewish by culture or by religion. There are several people who were born in Israel that are Jews but do not practice the religion.

no... the aclu is out to abolish all religion. judaism is a religion. jews aren't out to abolish judaism. contrary to popular belief, the term ''jew'' refers to one's religious affiliation and nothing else. whoever wrote that article is just anti-semitic.
