It is a historical fact that the christian church has spread their belief in gods love through violance. Why are they so against truth? Is that not what they claim to hold most dear?

I suppose they feel the fact that they've mellowed and tend to spread Christianity through word of mouth and charity in the last few centuries means they shouldn't be constantly held to task for how they did so 400+ years ago. In my experience, they admit it happenned, just try to explain how their methods and beliefs are different in modern days.

I'm guessing atheists and others who allude to Christianity's admittedly criminal history over the last millenium continue to detest Germans in an equal light? They've only had 50 years, after all, since the Holocaust.

As an aside, I think the current Islamic extremism is very similar in Islam's 1,400th odd year as that of Christianity in its own, and will mellow with time, as well.

They fear the truth because since the time of the Popes, the church has changed the Christian faith to favor the few in power. Not the people to whom it was supposed to help benefit. Sort of like most of the governments in the world too.

I don't know who you're talking about, but personally I acknowledge the history of my Church -- good and bad. Some of the actions of the past are regrettable and nothing to be proud of, but there's little to be gained by denying them.

What we hold dear is the truth of the Gospel, which does not change; what mankind does in its name, for good or ill, does not make it untrue. All will have their day of judgment and be held accountable.

faith, via definition, is a concept in issues unseen and is an admission of irrational thought. all the coolest judgment interior the international is ineffective against fiction. Arguing with believers approximately their ideals is like attempting to take aside the tale of humpty dumpty. Why did humpty dumpty take a seat on the wall? with the aid of fact the tale says he did. it is not significant that no person replaced into there to work out it. they believe he sat on the wall and there is no longer something you may say to cajole them in any different case!

I don't think its fear but ignorance. Most Christian clergy gloss over the details so it doesn't sound as bad as what it is. Even today the Catholics try to hide the abuses from the public eye and I'm sure they aren't the only ones.

Because the truth will lead to more questions, and all good Christians must remember to just shut up, listen and believe.
