I cant help but feeling both enraged and humored at the same time by questions like these and responses like annamichele9. Such generalizations like these only server to make you look moronic. Most Christians do not have a problem with science expect in the realm of historical science or science that is conducted for the purpose of proving our origins and how we stemmed from there to become what we are today. Example would be evolution. Scientists making claims regarding how things evolved without ever being able to actually observe these changes. Of course this deals with macro-evolution and not micro-evolution (adaptation). Most Christians will not argue against adaptation, or small changes in a species to help them adapt to their environment, especially since these changes can be observed.
I need to back track for a second and reword your question or at least my answer to what you asked. Do I believe "in" science? No, I believe in God. I do believe though that through science we can answer many questions and develop a higher level of understanding regarding the things around us. We answer they questions of how a supernatural God can create something and allow it to function in what we know of as our natural world. We understand not only how, but why it functions in that particular manner. Through science we discovered gravity, how it works, why it works, the purpose it was designed for, etc. Through science God allows us to discover how things are done so that we can recreate it ourselves in the natural world. Regarding historical science I believe that people who do not believe in God have made extraordinary claims regarding how we have gotten to where we are now "without" empirical proof to those claims and have passed them on as fact.
Your second question...I don't believe that science will ever "prove" the validity of the bible, it will only confirm what the bible has already proven.
THE BIBLE (2,000–3,000 years ago)
The earth is a sphere (Isaiah 40:22).
Innumerable stars (Jeremiah 33:22).
Free float of earth in space (Job 26:7).
Creation made of invisible elements (Hebrews11:3).
Each star is different (1 Corinthians 15:41).
Light moves (Job 38:19,20).
Air has weight (Job 28:25).
Winds blow in cyclones (Ecclesiastes 1:6).
Blood is the source of life and health (Leviticus 17:11).
Ocean floor contains deep valleys and mountains (2 Samuel 22:16; Jonah 2:6).
Ocean contains springs (Job 38:16).
When dealing with disease, hands should be washed under running water (Leviticus 15:13).
SCIENCE THEN
The earth was a flat disk.
Only 1,100 stars.
Earth sat on a large animal.
Science was ignorant on the subject.
All stars were the same.
Light was fixed in place.
Air was weightless.
Winds blew straight.
Sick people must be bled.
The ocean floor was flat.
Ocean fed only by rivers and rain.
Hands washed in still water.
SCIENCE NOW
The earth is a sphere.
Innumerable stars.
Free float of earth in space.
Creation made of invisible elements (atoms).
Each star is different.
Light moves.
Air has weight.
Winds blow in cyclones.
Blood is the source of life and health.
Ocean floor contains deep valleys and mountains.
Ocean contains springs.
When dealing with disease, hands should be washed under running water.
Science through archeology has already confirmed many events that have taken place in the bible as being events which actually occurred. How many more things need to be confirmed for you to take notice?

Why is it that Hawking and Einstien are always quoted by people who understand very little of science? I guess that people read Hawking's popular book "A Brief History of Time" and consider it the cornerstone of modern science. They read some biography on Einstein and think they've played a part in developing Relativity. Try quoting some other scientists for once.
And rather than just rant to the person with the 'Science degree' (I didn't know they actually awarded those) and a few of the ignoramuses that followed, I guess I should direct some type of response to the question. You can't validate the bible. Religion is based on faith. You can't prove the existence of god and you can't disprove it either. People have their faith and people have the tool of science. It's not possible to not 'believe' in science because science deals with facts. (For those of you about to point out that a theory is not a fact, I'm well aware of that. Theories are our best explanations of the facts and our best tools for predicting future phenomena) If you don't 'believe' in science then you are a complete moron. You are a waste of organic material that could better be put to use lighting my desk lamp, and I beg you not to procreate. Please, for the good of humanity, get yourself fixed.

I truly have a hard time with this type of question, and it seems so misguided to me.
I went to a fundamental Christian School from k5 to 10th grade, after which i went to public school for 11th and 12th. In the Christian School, we studied science. We took geology, biology, chemistry, etc. I don't understand why so many non-Christians think that Christians do not believe in science.
You can have a Christian based chemistry class. The chemicals still respond for Christians like it does for non-Christians and the periodic table is the same.
Anatomy is still the same no matter where you think it came from. When we dissected our toads, we still learned the same thing.
The other amazing thing is that when i went to public school, i was soooo far ahead in science.
By the way, the reason i switched to public school was because i did not agree with the christian faith. My eyes were opening to some new possibilities and I needed to move on. Now i acknowledge and follow my pagan path, and have been on this path actively for over twenty years.
I would not change my Christian based training for anything... i learned a lot.

Trust seems like a better word here.
Archeology supports some historical aspects of the bible...names, dates, places, etc.
Cosmology is not in conflict with a creative event.
Perhaps even the miracles recorded in the bible will be one day explained by the laws of science.
One law that seems to be implied in the universe and in the bible is one of equal return or karma. We seem to get back from life what we put into it...
As for scientific facts about the parchments, there seems to be little doubt that the bible was written by many people over many years. We have the dead sea scrolls and other ancient manuscripts, which have been dated and verified scientifically.
The bible and science do not have to be in conflict, but as long as we are still learning, when they appear to disagree, it's worth an investigation...on both sides.

Christians essentially gave the sector evolutionary technology. Darwin was once a seminary pupil earlier than environment off at the HMS Beagle. Gregor Mendel was once a Catholic monk who found out and outlined Mendelian Genetics, nonetheless identified because the Father of Genetics. Georges Lemaître was once a Catholic priest who postulated the Big Bang idea. The reality is that almost all of Christians receive technology as common and your view that the majority people don't is skewed by means of the clicking and potentially your position. In America, the Protestant motion is understood for its YEC developments, however they don't constitute the worldwide populace of Christians. We have now not "conformed" our ideals to fit the clinical findings, however alternatively, we made technology what it's in these days. "If evolution is reality, does not that disprove Christianity without reference to whether or not there's a divine being or now not?" - If you knew whatever approximately technology, you could understand that the thought of "disproving" whatever is inaccurate. We under no circumstances disprove whatever. Rarely ever will we turn out whatever. We acquire proof and regulate theories hence. Furthermore, the truth of evolution has no final result on Christianity or God. I have no idea why you could feel it did.

I certainly believe in science - it's our attempt to study
the world and has brought us many practical things.
Science has disproved religious superstitions as well.
The Bible actually tells us to not believe in superstitions
or in psuedo-science. True science, in reality, has
not ever disproved the Bible or God. God is also
spirit. Divine wisdom is spiritually dicerned.
Science has it's own place - it's full of questions
and curiosities - it does not replace religion or
belief in God - there is no way that it possibly
or even logically can! It's a shame that people
are attempting it - all egomania.

Christians wrote the rules for the "Scientific Method" -- they invented what we know today as "Science".
If you knew what Science is, you'd know you don't prove a historical book by Science. Science is not designed to do that.
Archaology has been used over and over to prove the validity of the Bible. One of the more recent findings, which I've seen on TV is the remains of the Army of Egypt, chariots and all, at the bottom of the Red Sea.

When the Bible does speak of Science its always accurate.
Let me give you two examples:
Writing about 800 years or so before Jesus was born, the Old Testament Prophet Isaiah told us that the earth is round:
22 He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth,
and its people are like grasshoppers.
He stretches out the heavens like a canopy,
and spreads them out like a tent to live in.
The above is from Isaiah chapter 40.
This was more than 400 years before the Greek figured out that the earth was round and calculated its diameter.

Astronomers admit today cannot count the number of stars.
Yet 200 years ago Astonomers thought they could.
However it was in Genesis chapter 15 when God said to Abraham that he could not count or number the stars:
5 He took him outside and said, "Look up at the heavens and count the stars—if indeed you can count them." Then he said to him, "So shall your offspring be."
I could give you many more examples but I can't type that fast.

Science is not a belief system, to begin with. Science, itself, is research, and more often then not science is proven wrong over time. Not to say that all science is wrong, surely. But the bulk of all science is a collection of mis-steps and suggestions, conclusions, and pronouncements that have little to do with reality.
Science is proving more and more of the Bible as true all the time. There is a series on "discovery" about this very subject.
And I think Einstein said it best.

Yes, I do believe in science but are you willing to admit that science also has its weaknesses? How many scientific claims have been hijacked by those with a predetermined bias (e.g. causes for global warming)? Science includes the process of being able to replicate a process to determine its validity. Would you like me to recreate the death and resurrection of Jesus to prove it happened? Have scientists been able to duplicate the evolutionary process or are we taking it as truth by faith? Science cannot explain everything friend so the faster you get of that train the better off we'll all be.

Well, I better believe in it! I'm going into Veterinary Sciences after all!
Also, there was a petrified wood structure found on Mt. Ararat...but Turkey will not allow the exploration of it...
But besides that, I dunno...maybe you shouldn't just ask Christians who believe in science...but a Christian who is up to date in the science world...I used to have Popular Science subscription, but only for Journal Articles I had to write...

Science is not something to be 'believed in'. To insist on perpetuating this myth is just providing uneducated Theists with an argument against it.
