make Christians "Prove" the existence of God when they ask a question on here but they are always ready to say"I have a right to my opinion"....Belief in a Diety is faith,an intangiable and will never be able to be "proved"...so the belief is an opinion and therefore Christians have the right to the opinion of belief in God......this is known going into any debate so why do the Ath's and Agno's continue to try to make someone "prove" anything?...it doesnt make sense to ask someone to 'prove" something when it is known up front they cant?...

We all have to admit that Christianity has been under some serious attacks. Before the criticisms weren't that harsh so the Christians did not have to think of some real good answer to prove themselves. These days they need some good explanation inorder to live another day. What is hip for Christians now? READ IT IN CONTEXT and DON"T TAKE IT LITERALLY. What a load of horseshit! You Christians keep giving us verses and you tell us to read in context? The Bible is not a poem, why should we not read it literally?
The words written in the Bible is not a riddle, it is clearly a novel....I mean story that God wants us to understand accordingly. If it is to be metaphorically read then everyone would have their own perspective and render the whole book invalid immediately. These two excuses never occured in the old days. Why all in a sudden say that we should read out of context and not read in literally? Because you can't win an arguement so you need some EXCUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's not funny anymore after you get a new sore or itch! That is why Jesus said no! Stop it!

I am so saddened to see so many with such bitter reactions to anything remotely religious. I have traveled some in my life and met many people from many cultures, but I have never encountered so much dislike up to outright hatred for religion. I would be interested in how some of you folks came to your conclusions.
I have never forced my beliefs on anyone, I say live and let live, but some of you won't even give that a chance. It seems like some of you won’t even read the entire question.
I understand the reactions of its a cult, mental weakness, it causes problems...and so on.
I guess it is because I never pressed it on anyone, only shared my beliefs more in just a conversational form.
OK now let the negative reactions to my comments commence.

If, as some people claim, every word of the Bible is literally true, why then would Jesus teach moral lessons using fictional stories?

This is one of the reasons I NEVER believed in a literalist interpretation of the Bible.

Led to sin by these boat riding types showing their legs, I did wrong. But now I understand Christ, I've read the book, and it's clean again!

Are you clean in Jesus blood? Why not, scared? There are only so many redo's we have before we are called to the major leagues, if you catch my drift!

Pure! No more leg obsession with cheer outfits on too tight!

Arlighty, no bullshit answers please. When I was 11, being the adverage air head I played around with witchcraft. When I moved into the room upstairs, I would hear footsteps running up and down the stairs. It became so loud I thought maybe my mother had come upstairs. I saw the door open slightly but no one was there. Out of fright I brought my dog upstairs. The dog ran up and down the stairs and growled at the door. A few nights later I started to hear voices calling my name for almost a month.

I know this sounds strange, and I cannot convince you of anything. But, those of you that do believe. What happened to me?

Xtian: God creates each and every human in his own image.
Me: God kills every first born child in egypt. Why would God create and then kill thereafter?
Xtian: Not eveyone is created by God, only some are special.
=DOUBLE STANDARD
Me: Why are we sinful?
Xtian: Because of Adam eating the fruit of knowledge.
Me: What do you mean?
Xtian: The fruit contained the knowledge of sin.
Me: Adam sinned by eating the apple, therefore he had the knowledge of sin before eating the fruit.
Xtiam: Oh, it is not to be taken literally.
=DOUBLE STANDARD
Me: Why should I believe in your religion?
Xtian: Because we are the biggest religion in the world, does that not hint you into something?
Me: Within your religion you can't even agree like Cath, protes, Orthod??
Xtian: Oh, those are small details we don't agree on.
Me: Orthodox believed God was evil and Satan good in the O.T. Is that a small detail?
Xtian: Not every Christian is real.
Me: And you use quantity as proof?

Any person who has even a limited understand of evolution understands that humans didn't evolve from monkeys. They are distant relative in the primate order, and NOT direct ancestors. So why do you always claim that we believe this, when we certainly don't?

touchy question, mature, sound, factual answers only PLEASE!

this happened 2 one of my teacher's nieces several years ago. she shared this story with us & a debate ensued. what do u all think?

if a 13yo girl(believer) is on an abort. table bcuz her father has impregnated her & made her "get rid of it" & she dies on the table right after the doc is finished...where will she spend her eternity?

where will the father & the doctor spend eternity if they both ask their "Savior" for forgivness after this experience & promise 2 obey from that moment on?

Rate yourself:

1 being you've never read it

5 being you are familiar with most of the central doctrinal material and could cite a few passages.

10 being you could recite 100 passages, know the context, know the history of the texts, know what if any archeology has confirmed or discounted which parts, know the history of the middle east and are somewhat familiar with the source languages.

I am an atheist and would rate myself a 7, (so give me a big pat on the back.)

I ask because I get annoyed when Christians assume I have some sort of fear of, aversion to, or complete ignorance of the bible.

Most atheists seem to me to be more informed than the AVERAGE Christian who basically just knows Genesis, the Passion narrative, and a few parables. (and of course the verses condemning homosexuality)

How about you?

If some of us protest injustice that is being done in the name of Islam, that is because we love Islam and hate to see its good name being misused as a cover for oppression that is completely contrary to the spirit of Islam. Muslims have to clean up their own act, and insisting on denial of a problem is no service to the ummah. The injustice against women perpetrated by the system of power is very real. Willful blindness to the problem is no excuse for going along with it. If you really care about the essence of Islam, you need to establish justice. The injustice against women in Muslim countries is terrible, and there has been more than enough pious preaching about how Islam is great for women (in an ideal world), and not enough correcting of injustice on the ground. The evil comes from the system that keeps people locked in roles that stunt their growth, the system that unjustly penalizes women who would exercise their rights.

Is Jesus good with that? It's against what a lot of us say in church? It's crazy, and I'm mad about this!

Modesty -

Here I have created a really nice body - Now hide it ------what is up with that

Here are 10 things you are never to do - Or I will burn you forever - Because I love you

What is up with that one ?

God gets mad and drowns all but 8 people -

Couldn't he have tried "talking to them" first?

Jesus commands us to love our enemy - But Jesus plans to toast his enemies for eternity in a lake of fire -

Isn't that just a wee bit hypocritical of him ?

Yeah, I know it's a trite question. DRINK!

Seriously, though, I don't get how some people throw around the phrase 'false religion' as if they know without a doubt that they are right and everyone else is wrong.
Sounds pretty damn arrogant to me.
