The original Hebrew was written from right to left without punctuation or verse numbering. The King James included punctuation and verse numbers when it was published in 1611.

The King James Version was translated by 47 scholars (although 54 were originally contracted) working in six committees, two based in each of the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, and Westminster, and was first published in 1611.
Wikipedia has an excellent history on the Authorized Version.

I don't know about right to left in the Greek, however, the Greek text did not have punctuation. A comma and a period can be extremely important!

God did, of course. Every edition of the Bible is sent to God for proofreading and editing.
