If some of us protest injustice that is being done in the name of Islam, that is because we love Islam and hate to see its good name being misused as a cover for oppression that is completely contrary to the spirit of Islam. Muslims have to clean up their own act, and insisting on denial of a problem is no service to the ummah. The injustice against women perpetrated by the system of power is very real. Willful blindness to the problem is no excuse for going along with it. If you really care about the essence of Islam, you need to establish justice. The injustice against women in Muslim countries is terrible, and there has been more than enough pious preaching about how Islam is great for women (in an ideal world), and not enough correcting of injustice on the ground. The evil comes from the system that keeps people locked in roles that stunt their growth, the system that unjustly penalizes women who would exercise their rights.

As long as it isn't happening to someone you know, it's easy to stay complacent and acquiesce with the conventional system, overlooking its injustice. There has been more than enough (merely verbal) assertion that Islam is good for women. Indeed, true Islam would be good for women, if it were ever implemented properly! There has to be an end to the denial and more attention to the very real injustices that Muslim women are suffering right now. Why are girls left uneducated? What about access to medical treatment? Why are rape victims in Pakistan jailed or murdered while rapists go free? Why do those vicious thugs, the Taliban, think they can get away with beating and confining women? The situation is compounded by the pretense that "Islam" can somehow be the justification for harming women. That is nothing but a slander against the good name of Islam.

Now we are talking. We have to take ownership of this problem otherwise it is better to side with the West then the so called Muslims who to God are nothing more then Hypocrites. You will have my vote, If so called Muslims can get rid of there ego. A Muslim should be a humble servant to humanity and forgiveness should be his occupation and Love his Aim. Anyways, Welcome back!

I would like to see people of Islam donating hundreds of millions of dollars a year to help the starving people around the world. Have Islam followers be the first to arrive and give aid to people in times of natural disasters. Why are Christians doing this and not people of Islam? Where are the great scientific discoveries, to help humanity? Where is space exploration? Where are cures for disease and new treatments to prolong life in Islam? Instead of hating the west and hating Israel, why not try and learn from them and start contributing to the betterment of humanity? I do not say this to be cruel or mean in any way. I only say it because it is true. The USA sends more money in aid around the world, than all muslim countries combined. We even send humanitarian aid to those countries who hate our guts. Perhaps Islam could start to rebuild it's reputation by contributing to science and medicine and helping those poorer countries in need. Stop talking about how great Islam is and start proving it...God Bless You....Peace.

What you have to understand is most of the Muslim world has MEN who feel dis-empowered, so how could them empower the women thats why both are suffering. And because it helps some people attack Islam they highlight the women's case not the Mens.

Muslims have yet to recover the occupation of their lands by western forces and this remains the case and this is the major problem that they face. Its amazing that the ones who gave the problem now look at us and complain, when it was them who gave the problems in the first place.

Yes the Quran and the sunnah will have to be adopted at present because it was once practised and understood via people who have been with the prophet Muhammed (noticed) from his partners (RAA) and in addition how the Quran and the sunnah was once understandstood via the 3 generations after them after which the way it was once understood via people who got here after them in goodness and piety. May Allah (swt) go back us all to the Quran and the sunnah and cast off unite us upon the proper information of tawheed and the proper aqeedah. And might Allah (swt) cast off the humiliation located upon the muslim ummah, the humiliation that's brought on without problems via the muslim abandoining the Quran and the sunnah.

The things you are complaining about happen because islam is implemented properly. The violence you say you hate is an integral part of your belief. The Taliban is islam. Shariah Law is islam. Muhammad's actions are being followed by the Taliban and others. He's your prophet and he mistreated women. Didn't Aisha write about a time when Muhammad hit her in the chest? Aren't Muslims suppose to follow his example? He had captive women. What can you do to fix that?

Several of the examples you are giving are not the norm they are the exception.

In Pakistan all women who are raped are not jailed but there might have been some case or cases that were extraordinary and got media coverage.

The first step is to get a correct picture of what is going on then look for solutions.

If I Broadcast to Pakistan (for example) only the strangest news about people in the USA -- putting their kids in microwaves or grandpas chocking children to death while doing excorcisms or the hundreds of stories of domestic abuse then they would think this was the norm and not the exception.

Media is a great tool to promote the truth or distort the truth.

I await a single protest by muslims against some actions done by muslims
Where were the protests agains terrorism in the usa by muslims after 9/11 (didn't happen)
Where were the protests against muslim upon muslim violence in iraq (shia killing sunni and sunni killing shia) especially after a 1000 year old mosque was blown up? (didn't happen)
so where are the protests by muslims against the treatment of women in their own muslim countries.. (didn't happen)

sorry to say but my impression of muslims is that of savage, hate and repression of all...
If you want to call me a "hater" for that then go for it.. but ACTIONS and LACK OF ACTIONS speak as to the kind of people muslims all around the world are.

Very well put by KMN.
A religion is only as good as its followers.
Its comical when Muslims want to explain the meaning of Islam to let them off the hook. Its like a thief who wants a pardon because he is Christain!

women in the west have gone before you. of course you might not want things to turn out just as they have in the west but you could view it as an historical experiment of sorts, similar to the way one might compare the iranian revolution with the english civil war and cromwell's republic.

Yes, you're absolutely right, but Proud Muslimah; Let me share a thought with you....

What you say here, what I say here, what all of us say here; regarding peace, love and true Islam, May not take effect in our life.. though it may be a small candle for those who come after us... I believe one day; things will change... As long as Muslims are trying to attach to their true religion.. I'm sure God will guide us one day....

"As for those who strive in Us, We surely guide them to Our paths, and lo! Allah is with the good." 29:69

lets all join your scream against oppression and maltreatment of women.
