Of course you can and should worship in your heart and at home...but the assembly is very important for Christians because if you dont need help others do!
+
Hbr 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some [is]; but exhorting [one another]: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Wonder Dog,
As a Christian, we are told to come together on the first day of the week to give as we have been prospered and to partake of the LORD'S SUPPER. This was an example that was given in the New Testament and is followed by Christians to this very day. Have a wonderful week.
Thanks,
Eds

God wants a personal relationship with each of us..... We are told we should gather together, but that is to edify and uplift each other, keeping each other strong in the faith....... but, praying and meditating is a PRIVATE matter between each of us and God ........ so NO it is NOT necessary to go to a building.......... and YES you can do all those things ate home............ God bless

I don't think it is necessary to attend church to be a good Christan. You can do the things you speak about. I quit going to weekly service about 6 years ago. I will get up and watch a service on TV on Sunday morning.

And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

A church, Masjid, Temple, Synagogue or Mosque is built out of stone.
It is meaningless by itself.
The only church, masjid, temple, synagogue or mosque which REALLY matters is the one you carry in your heart.

Yes you can do your prayer and things at home. The church is there to teach you other things and then you can also fellow-
ship with other believers.
You can be faithful and live for God without going to church though. I find it a little harder to do that at home due to the fact that you have noone to be accoutable to at your home.

in the new testament, christians met together in houses, not in what are known as "church buildings".
so the admonition of "assembling together" could be wherever any two or more christians meet
and, getting close to God can individually be done anywhere at anytime

it isn't necessary to be in a place of worship to pray - unless your religion dictates that it is.
In the Christian belief, you can pray in your heart whenever you please. It's stated in the scriptures to "pray without ceasing". That would mean wherever you are and whatever time you feel lead or feel the need.
blessings :)

You will never find God in a church of any religion, but you will find him in your own home where he tells you to pray. my God bless.
