I am so saddened to see so many with such bitter reactions to anything remotely religious. I have traveled some in my life and met many people from many cultures, but I have never encountered so much dislike up to outright hatred for religion. I would be interested in how some of you folks came to your conclusions.
I have never forced my beliefs on anyone, I say live and let live, but some of you won't even give that a chance. It seems like some of you won’t even read the entire question.
I understand the reactions of its a cult, mental weakness, it causes problems...and so on.
I guess it is because I never pressed it on anyone, only shared my beliefs more in just a conversational form.
OK now let the negative reactions to my comments commence.

Yeah, I really don't understand how non-believers can say we shove our beliefs down their throats, yet they think it's perfectly fine to tell us so blatantly how our God "doesn't exist" and that it's all imaginary, and put us down so rudely, just for believing in something. But I guess it makes sense taking the following verse into consideration:

If you find the godless world is hating you, remember it got its start hating me. If you lived on the world's terms, the world would love you as one of its own. But since I picked you to live on God's terms and no longer on the world's terms, the world is going to hate you.
-- John15:18-19 [The Message]

We just have to stand our ground, and not let them get the best of us, they're looking to break us down and looking for a fight, all we can do is state what we believe and pray for them, the worst thing is to let them frustrate you, they'll be getting just what they desire and making you look foolish.

The more talk, the less truth,
the wise measure their words.
-- Proverbs 10:19 [The Message]

The problem is largely a function of Christianity itself. Many Christians, like many Muslims, think that they have THE way, instead of merely A way. To me, the Bible is a unique book written by a bunch of well-intentioned but very ignorant people. They knew nothing about dinosaurs or other planets, or viruses and bacteria. They did their best to explain the world as they understood it. And then a lot of other people translated it, and changed it, and politicized it. Christians (and Muslims) unfortunately think that politics and religion are mixed together. The founding fathers of the US Constitution deliberately set them apart. America is NOT a Christian nation. The bitterness we see here is mostly directed against people who think that the US is, or should be, a nation with Biblical or Christian values.

The church I grew up in gave "RELIGION" a foul identify! Talk approximately making it arguable! If you have been Baptist, Catholic, Jewish, Methodist - essentially whatever besides a member of our church then you definately have been doomed and going to hell. I had that philosophy beat into me till I used to be 18, received out on my possess, and began going to extraordinary church buildings. It's most effective within the final 12 years or in order that I discovered that God is a God of affection, and now not of feedback and hate, like I used to be taught developing up. I've additionally discovered that EVERY faith has received somewhat of fact in it... It's an issue of interpretation of the Bible and your middle.

Most people seem to believe that they have the right to tell everyone about their beliefs what ever they may be, but the moment a person try to share their faith with them, it is just as you have observed. It would as thought many people are just afraid of some truth.

If you have travelled that widely then surely you have seen the devastation which religion has brought everywhere.
In essence the motives behind religion are purely selfish, which is why they are wrong. The human race is a community after all.

im just opposed to extremists. the ones who think its ok to control people and use religion as an excuse for killing or anything like that. religion is supposed to be peaceful. thats why its really sad to see that muslims are considered terrorists now because looking at the history of the religion, it was BASED on peace. the same goes for the other 2.

i agree with you. I honestly dont not have one religion, i am spiritual but i support all belifes because if one chooses to belive something then i think they are right for doing that. there is good and bad to all cultures but we should only focus on the good. i really dont care what others belive because everyone should choose to belive whatever they want:)

On 9/11 when the hijackers said, 'We're doing this for God" and God never intervened, people realized something is wrong with our system of religion.

i'm only opposed to the people who are extremely adamant about pushing religion into everything in life, without giving anyone a choice about what religion they would personally like to follow or raise their children in. here in the united states, it is quickly becoming "majority rules," which i feel is unfair & really a sad statement about the direction our nation is headed in.
