Atheists, do you want his help (given his reputation)? Christians, do you believe he's going to hell?... Everyone else, opinions?...

In the first four centuries of Christian history, followers certainly couldn't bring themselves to display a humiliating visual like that.

Just curious. I mean lots of sects of Christianity believe in it and I was wondering why this is a MUST to be saved or something.

Church as the Communion of Saints
By the expression, the "Communion of Saints" we mean in the strict sense the union of all faithful on earth withChrist as their Head an with one another. In a wider sense, the expression signifies the unity under and in Christ as their Head of the faithful on earth (the Church militant), the souls in Purgatory (the Church suffering), and the blessed in heaven (the church Triumphant).
In his priestly prayer Christ intimately links the members of His Church into a firm, spiritual unity (John 17: 9-26). His relation to His Apostles and true followers is similar to that of the vine, which He is, to its branches; just as the branches draw their life and nourishment from the vine, so His Apostles and all just souls must draw their spiritual life and nourishment from Him (John 15:1-11). By means of the Lord's Prayer, His disciples were to pray for one another and the Kingdom of God (Matt 6:9-13)

Which Jesus do you serve
If Ephesians says to imitate Christ
Why do you look so much like the world

Pretty blue eyes and curly brown hair
and a clear complexion
Is how you see Him as dies for your sins
But the Word says He was battered and scarred
Or did you miss that part
Sometimes I wonder if we'd reconize Him

My Jesus bled and died
He spent His life with theifs, and sluts, liars and the last of these
He loved to the poor and accosted the comfortable
So which one do you want to be

My Jesus would never be accepted in my church
The blood and dirt on His feet my stain the carpet
But He reaches for the hurt and depises the proud
And I think He'd prefer Beale Street
To the stain glass crowd
And I know He can hear me if I cry out loud

If Jesus was here would you walk right by
on the other side
Or fall down and worship at His holy feet

I'm curious. Since God is known as a he does it affect how you think of God. I grew up referring to God as a he and I think it does affect how I view him. When I pray to God, I think of a male. But the truth is people God has no gender.

"Why are you on this site?" Are you bored and want to know what's going on in the lives of your six billion fellow humans? Are you having a bad day and kinda need to be reminded that your current situation isn't near as bad as some others? Or are you in an emotionally volatile mood and kinda wanna unleash opinionated ballistics at any controversial or scandalous topic that happens to press your button? Or do you just like to read the uniquely colorful responses to "questionable" questions and come across the one response that has you laughing really hard to yourself? Or do you feel that you might actually be able to assist a fellow human with help/advice/answers from a previous predicament/situation/experience..... in your own journey of life? Or is for the accumulation of points in hopes that Yahoo! will one day in the near future actually begin to distribute prizes for 'em? For me, a little bit of all the aforementioned.....why are YOU on this site at this very moment in your life?

This Yahoo Answer is a great place for us to separate the fools from the wise. Just look at their answers. About 98% of them come from "fools". Come on folks be smart! DON'T THROW WORDS OUT THERE WHEN YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. Get real. Believe in Jesus Christ TODAY and get real. The rest is just a bunch of junk.

Over the last year I've had a lot of change in my life. Ever since I've decided that I wanted to do more then just "live right" and actually study to become a minister of my faith I've felt like I've been under attack.
Not physically, but in my spirit and in my emotions, and even in my circumstances it just seems like I've had to pray almost continually just to survive some of this stuff.
I'm determined to hang on, but can anyone share any stories and how I can overcome?

To atheist I am aware what your beliefs are, I just ask you to please be respectful.

,,,,,, but they have suppressed the truth about God?
Yeah.
On the other hand, for those who want to know God if he is there, he says, "You will seek me and find me; when you seek me with all your heart, I will be found by you."

Fact is: God designed the earth as a habitation for man!

Many examples showing God's design could be given, with NO end.

"Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear." Hebrews 11:3.

I abhore getting chain emails- but the "Jesus is coming to rapture....chain emails that end in the usual "send to seven friends and so and so will occur..." just grate my nerves because they seem so hypocritical. Wasn't the bible against "luck/superstition" anyway? How can I explain this to my more zealous (but well meaning) family members that these emails just harvest email addresses and are not biblical in nature anyway?
Please advise.

The Catholic idea of saints is based upon all of Scripture and Tradition.

The Communion of Saints
After confessing "the holy catholic church" the Apostles Creed adds "the communion of saints." In a certain sense this article is a further explanation of the preceding: "What is the Church if not the assembly of all the saints?" The communion of saints is the Church.
Since all the faithful form one body, the good of each is communicated to the others... We must therefore believe that there exists a communion of goods in the Church. But the most important member is Christ, since he is the head... Therefore, the riches of Christ are communicated to all the members, through the sacraments. As this Church is governed by one and the same Spirit, all the goods she has received necessarily become a common fund. (St Paul says we are one body, one body in Christ).
