My mom passed away a few years ago and sometimes I dream that she comes to me and says that she is doing good and tells me not to be sad and that she loves me. these dreams seem so real, like she is really there. Could she be coming to me to tell me she's ok or is that just wishful thinking. Has anyone else had this happen?

Is it honestly significantly harder to score better grades just because it's an ivy league or are average universities such as state schools and the like reasonably just as difficult?

is it just propaganda that ivy leagues are genius universities? i'm not negating the reality that you will find more highly intellectual individuals at ivy leagues, but realistically, do you agree that they're overrated?

A question for Slayer fans: When Buffy and friends have another demonic bad guy to fight, why do they always start by digging through mountains of dusty books to figure out what it is? Why don't they simply PRAY about it?

I dont rant about it but sometimes i hear peopke having a go at "those pagan nutters" and i have to defend myself and my beliefs. why do people automatically think that?

others are just make believe or spin-offs or branches of their religion, but they never see the actual truth that all religions are make believe even their own, not just 'the others'. no matter how hard one believes nor for how long, it doesnt make any of them more real than the next or previous.

I can't even tell anymore who's really telling a genuine message. Everyone seems to be after the profits. I guess those who believe that something is really happening is gonna have to wait and see for themselves in 5 years! What do you think? (Please serious comments only and please don't try to insult anyone.)

There's this Mormon lady who calls me every night, wanting to come over AT night time. & last night she called me, saying that she was coming over to my house @ 2 PM. & she said that I BETTER be @ home when she comes.

I don't trust Mormons at all because of my personal experiences with them. Should I just ignore her when she shows up @ my door?

I just stopped being friends with a Mormon dude because he's 2-faced, & my best friend was adopted by Mormon parents who made it their biological kids' daily CHORES to molest & rape my poor friend.

The story of Satan and her fall from grace sounds like a divorce in a lot of ways.

She wanted to be in control of heaven and in the process screwed everything up, so God kicked her *** to the curb for it.

Why are people so down on these groups of believers that they would go out of their way to say hurtful things and even get a question about them delete? More and more my interest in them grows because of things like this. I have read both materials from both groups I find nothing really wrong. Both of them see them as the bible says that we may live here but we are citizens of the kingdom and they dont get involved with politic that much. So Tell me in full explaining why you are scared of them, think of them as a occult, and why are you so against the Mormon who is now running for president? I really do not get this hate thing at all. please explain it to me.

“Of all the animosities which have existed among mankind, those which are caused by difference of sentiment in religion appear to be the most inveterate and distressing, and ought most to be deprecated. I was in hopes that the enlightened and liberal policy which has marked the present age would at least have reconciled Christians of every denomination, so far that we should never again see their religious disputes carried to such a pitch as to endanger the peace of society.”
-- George Washington, letter to Sir Edward Newenham, Oct. 20, 1792.

“Until this awful blasphemy [the Incarnation] is got rid of, there never will be any liberal science in the world.”
-- John Adams, letter, Jan. 22, 1825, Works of J. Adams

“Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear. . . . Do not be frightened from this inquiry by any fear of its consequences. If it ends in a belief that there is no God, you will find inducements to virtue in the comfort and pleasantness you feel in its exercise, and the love of others which it will procure you.”
-- Thomas Jefferson's letter to nephew Peter Carr, written from Paris, Aug. 10, 1787

“I can indeed hardly see how anyone ought to wish Christianity to be true; for if so the plain language of the text seems to show that the men who do not believe, and this would include my Father, Brother, and almost all my best friends, will be everlastingly punished. And this is a damnable doctrine.”
-- Charles Darwin, Autobiography

“Mr. Lincoln was never a member of any Church, nor did he believe in the divinity of Christ, or the inspiration of the Scriptures in the sense understood by evangelical Christians.

When a boy, he showed no sign of that piety which his many biographers ascribe to his manhood. When he went to church at all, he went to mock, and came away to mimic.

When he came to New Salem, he consorted with Freethinkers, joined with them in deriding the gospel story of Jesus, read Volney and Paine, and then wrote a deliberate and labored essay, wherein he reached conclusions similar to theirs.”
-- Colonel Ward H. Lamon (a religionist and Lincoln's longtime friend), Life of Abraham Lincoln, pp. 486, 487, 157 (1872), cited by Franklin Steiner in The Religious Beliefs of Our Presidents

All religions speak of angels. We all have a guardian angel who watches over us to protect and guide. Some people have seen their angel. Anyone ever see their angel, if so, how did your angel protect you?

How many gay, lesbian, or bisexual people do you know? Do any of them walk around wearing a 'homosexual' banner? Do they approach you to spread the news that they are, indeed, gay? Do any of them at all tell you what they do to whom in their bedrooms?

The reason I'm asking is because there seems to be this misconception in the christian community that gay individuals advertise their sexuality. This just isn't so. At worst, they show their sexuality in the same way that straight people show theirs, by dressing and acting accordingly. Do you get upset with the pretty woman in the front row of the church who has on a nice dress and lipstick, maybe showing a little cleavage? How about the straight guy that goes to the beach without a shirt? Do any of them really 'advertise' their bedroom behavior, or are homophobes simply afraid of what is different?

Lastly, is it really gays that advertise their sexuality, or are homophobic groups advertising "deviant behavior" to blame?
