since cursing is worse then most people think (evidant by the reaction of more innocent people) and their words do harm, is it possible that their are hidden words of power with horrible consequences?

The Vatican is a gainst condom use, even between *married* couples , because it claims condoms do not prevent the transmission of HIV.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/aids/story/0,7369,1059068,00.html

But the overwhelming evidence shows that routine condom use prevents HIV transmission 80% of the time or more. This is backed up by the US government, the WHO, the UN, and American Medical Association:

What is the bigger sin against humanity - sex (marital or extra-marital) or denying basic protection against an extremely preventable but deadly disease?

This is not meant to insult or offend any Christians but frankly your views and beliefs are no longer mine, if i'm being totally honest, some of the opinions you express scare me...i'm not saying you've driven me to Atheism but you made my decision a whole lot easier.

1. That her name begins with any of the following letters: "R", "T", "J", "S", "N" and "A".

2. That I will be meeting her anywhere betweem -1.5 years from now (early 2006) and 2 years from now (mid-2009).

3. That she is short to medium height, with a slim/medium build, with straight/curly hair and blonde/brunette/red hair with no freckles/freckles and eyes that appear piercing/appear to be gazing into the future as if distracted.

4. That I do/don't know her yet, and will be meeting her through a mutual friend/in a place where singles do not deliberately seek each other out.

5. That she does not/has children.

This is why I keep seeking better psychic advice...I keep receiving conflicting messages. I have paid over $250 over the course of 6-7 years in order to answer this question (I was previously engaged for over 2 years).

Thanks!

Paul

Memory posted a question about how Christians Harassment, I wanted to keep this ball rolling and see what the other side of the coin thinks

When my door is constantly knocked on by church members looking for handouts, members, or the ever lovable “ friendly chat” about “my place’ in Gods world. You know, it wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t 2-3 persons a weekend every month or so. NOTHING like the ole door to door sales pitch for my soul, and never mind that NO SOLICITATION sign, not when its all about Gods work.

When I see faith based laws pushed through congress, and state legislators. I’m sorry I’m not a fool you can cry “ IT’S A MORAL IMPERATIVE” all you want. When I see millions of dollars spent by lobbyists working for the Christian Coalition pushing YOUR faith based bills one cant think anything else but an attempt to FORCE people to conform if they wont convert. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see through the shroud to see faith based laws as faith based laws. And while I’m on that subject why is it that you Christian extremists are so dissatisfied with living your lives according to your beliefs. Why are you ( pardon the pun) so hell bent to force EVERYONE to live under YOUR belief system. Pro-choice, gay, ashiest, Muslim, last time I checked the 10 commandments were pretty much cut and dry and there isn’t an appendix outlining that God handed out special judgment day cards to those of you who would dare think that its your job to decide on who gets a pass through the pearly gates not Gods., not that any of that has a THING to do with how our country works. Last time I checked we still have freedom of religion, and YES you Christian fools it DOES imply freedom FROM it as well. Only a complete idiot would think otherwise....and YES there a boatload of them too ( no shock there)

School, please just stay out of it. I know getting the door slammed in you face on “ lets bug the hell out of the neighborhood” day may be frustrating but for the love of my sanity please try to refrain from converting the public school system into a Christian indoctrination center.

Terrorism, oh YES extremists Christian groups have targeted members of our society. Harassment, murder, it only takes a quick look to see its done day in and day out in the US. Think I’m kidding, try asking ANY woman walking near a woman health clinic, even the one NOT getting an abortion. Oh and lets not forget those poor folks to happen to be on the wrong end of a real Christian nut case, one only has to take a trip to Pensacola Fl and query a few folks there.

Freedom has taken some hard hits from people like you and frankly I’m getting sick of it.

For Christ's Sake People, it's now AD-->only goes one way.
Silly childish sides wars induct both sides in a hall of shame.
Atheists vs X-ians? Both are law law from my point of view.
Catholics vs Protestants? Both are law law, and groundead.
America vs Iraq? What else will proselytes (devils) believe?
Believers vs Non-believers? No respect of persons with God!
There is only respect of persons, "partialtiy", AGAINST God.
Pure wisdom from above: sixth of seven things: no partiality!
What is the seventh of seven things mentioned in James 3:17?

Here are some of mine, now add your own.

1. A real translation of the papyri Smith used to produce the Book of Abraham would be similar to what is in the Perl of Great Price.

2. Native American DNA would show definite signs of an Israeli/Jewish connection.

3. Modern church leaders would have enough power of discernment to not be deceived by dangerous con men like Mark Hoffman.

4. Abusive amateur dictators that serve as Bishops, Stake Presidents and General Authorities would be released after they spiritually harmed a member of the church.

5. The saving ordinances in the temple would never change, just as Joseph Smith and Brigham Young taught.

6. Teachings and prophesies from the pulpit at General Conference by the prophets would be in harmony, since they all are anointed mouthpieces for the same unchanging, all-knowing, perfect God.

7. The MTC, BYU and other church-operated institutions would be shining examples of the principle of free agency.

8. Joseph Smith would have been able to find the first 116 "lot pages" of the original BoM translation, or at least have known they would never be found, thus demonstrating at least some divine guidance.

9. The various personal accounts by Joseph Smith of his "first vision" would not contradict the "official" church version today.

10. Journal accounts by faithful members would describe Smith's practice of polygamy as being in harmony with the revelation governing that doctrine.

As a True Believing Mormon, I naively expected the above items to back up the church's story. Taken individually, you can come up with an excuse for why each one doesn't support the church's claims. But taken as a whole, it matches up with only one explanation... the church is an elaborate hoax.

God sent His son
they called Him Jesus
He came to love
heal and forgive
He bled and died
just to buy our pardon
an empty grave is there prove my savior lives

Because He lives I can face tommorrow
Because He lives all fear is gone
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth the living just because He lives.

I was just listening to this chorus and I was very encouraged. And I wanted to encourage my brothers and sisters in the Lord.

May God bless.

This is a very infamous HOAX perpetuated by christians and has been circulating for years.

The truth is that they took a story about a dig in Russia (circa 1984) where scientists encountered rare rock formations, flows of gas and water, and temperatures up to 180°, turned it into 2000° and then claimed these scientist heard screams of torture from those burning in hell.. the location has been changed at least three times- once to Siberia, once to Finland, and once to Alaska.. it simply isn't true.

Adam messed up. But by the looks of some of the responses on R/S any one of us would probably have done exactly what he did.
Look the garden thing is history but that same deceiver (SATAN) is at work in the heart and mind of humanity.
God didn't just sit snuggly in His heaven while all hell broke loose down here. He put His bacon on the line with Jesus sacrifice to UNDO the garden snafu.
So why not just take the CURE??
Also, please folks, stop saying Satan will rule Hell. He is NOT ruling Hell. Hell was designed to PUNISH him and those who have the same heart attitude as he.

so why is it so unthinkable that the soul (or the spirit) is eternal?

If you consider the soul is composed of pure energy would it not out last the body and continue it's existance separated from the body?

They are so annoying. I used to be a practiceing Catholic now I'm a free thinking and I see all the lies and hypocrisy in the the Christain church. I also refuse to be a Christain because my ancestors are Latino and African. The slaves and Natvie Americans were forced to pratcie christanity and forget their culture. It's the truth, christanity didn't come for Africa, Asian, or American. It's a European creation that reinforces European culture over minorites.

they get accused of "taking verses out of context" but Fundies can quote that one stupid verse in leviticus about gays, while they sit there in their clothing of mixed fibers, with all four limbs intact, and both eyes, having never repented all the times they ate shellfish, while their disobedient son still lives, and that's not taking anything out of context? Is it only taking it out of conext if it clashes with your bigotry?
