Memory posted a question about how Christians Harassment, I wanted to keep this ball rolling and see what the other side of the coin thinks
When my door is constantly knocked on by church members looking for handouts, members, or the ever lovable “ friendly chat” about “my place’ in Gods world. You know, it wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t 2-3 persons a weekend every month or so. NOTHING like the ole door to door sales pitch for my soul, and never mind that NO SOLICITATION sign, not when its all about Gods work.
When I see faith based laws pushed through congress, and state legislators. I’m sorry I’m not a fool you can cry “ IT’S A MORAL IMPERATIVE” all you want. When I see millions of dollars spent by lobbyists working for the Christian Coalition pushing YOUR faith based bills one cant think anything else but an attempt to FORCE people to conform if they wont convert. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see through the shroud to see faith based laws as faith based laws. And while I’m on that subject why is it that you Christian extremists are so dissatisfied with living your lives according to your beliefs. Why are you ( pardon the pun) so hell bent to force EVERYONE to live under YOUR belief system. Pro-choice, gay, ashiest, Muslim, last time I checked the 10 commandments were pretty much cut and dry and there isn’t an appendix outlining that God handed out special judgment day cards to those of you who would dare think that its your job to decide on who gets a pass through the pearly gates not Gods., not that any of that has a THING to do with how our country works. Last time I checked we still have freedom of religion, and YES you Christian fools it DOES imply freedom FROM it as well. Only a complete idiot would think otherwise....and YES there a boatload of them too ( no shock there)
School, please just stay out of it. I know getting the door slammed in you face on “ lets bug the hell out of the neighborhood” day may be frustrating but for the love of my sanity please try to refrain from converting the public school system into a Christian indoctrination center.
Terrorism, oh YES extremists Christian groups have targeted members of our society. Harassment, murder, it only takes a quick look to see its done day in and day out in the US. Think I’m kidding, try asking ANY woman walking near a woman health clinic, even the one NOT getting an abortion. Oh and lets not forget those poor folks to happen to be on the wrong end of a real Christian nut case, one only has to take a trip to Pensacola Fl and query a few folks there.
Freedom has taken some hard hits from people like you and frankly I’m getting sick of it.

livinintheword,
There is NOTHING biased about my statement. What I posted are FACTS. My door is banged on. There are faith based bills being pushed through the government. School functions are held up to placate religious groups need to force the public to acknowledge their faith. Multiple groups throughout the US harass ( even with violence) womans health centers each day. you can live in the word as you say but you need to open your eyes and see how far some people have taken it.

vjaxxor,
For someone who knows nothing about me personaly you seem to go into great detail about what I do or in your words what I dont do with my personal time. As a matter of fact I AM very much involved and I do act. Unlike some of the more extreme members of your faith I dont shoot people who dont think as I do. I could even live next to you and have no problems at all. I wish you could be the same. If the whole world lived like that maybe we wouldnt be so scared.

Encore...seriously! You got a star from me that was excellent.
The part about the abortion clincs I found especially right. I've driven by one, I've been parked by one and there are HOARDS of christians outside with disgusting picket signs of grotesque images and they run up to the women crying "you're a murderer" One guy ran up to a couple that was coming outside and yelled at them telling them they were going to hell and harrassing them with how they just killed their own flesh and blood, and how they're going to live every day with that fact" etc...he just kept rambling.
It's like violence that's ok because it's in the name of "morality".
effin oxymornoic hypocrites.

This very type of thing HAS happened (not this exactly, but this TYPE of thing), and - yes - it HAS had a profound impact, and the person involved DID become a believer. I do not think that you are limited to the religion of your parents. I did NOT grow up in a Christian home. In fact, we were always taught that Jesus was a liar, a deceiver, possibly a lunatic, and above all else, very definitely dead! In my mid-20's, when I was faced with a serious crisis in my life, someone asked if he could pray for me, and for lack of any reason to say no, I said ok. Well, the thing is, Brian prayed, and God answered. I had (for lack of a better term) a "revelation" that Jesus truly IS the Son of God! My eyes were opened, so to speak to the Truth of Jesus Christ. My life was changed, and I've never been the same since. Even when I was literally kidnapped for my faith and went through some pretty serious "deprogramming" techniques (which later after sharing the experience with someone else, learned that these same techniques were used on POWs to "break" them), so even when I went through these things, Jesus has been real to me, and while I am sad to say that at one point I DID deny Jesus, yet He has been faithful when I wasn't, and I still serve Jesus Christ to this day, 20 years later! So, your premise is wrong. Jesus is real no matter WHAT anybody believes, or how a person was raised, and He CAN change lives. Of course, it's rather funny to hear a situation that is most likely improbable, if not actually impossible in the first place, to be used as an argument against Christianity, since anybody who has access to a library, and can actually read, I'm sure has heard of God and Jesus. For those who live in 3rd world countries, who have no libraries, who can not read, there are missionaries even know studying their language, creating a written alphabet, teaching these "natives" to read their own language, and translating the Bible into these native languages while teaching the people about God and His great sacrifice through His Son, Jesus Christ, who died on a cross to pay the penalty for OUR sins (crimes against God)!

there are extremists in every sector....
I am a Christian... but i have never been informed about any “ lets bug the hell out of the neighborhood” day ... infact... i have never knocked on your door or anyone elses to chat about my beliefs.
I am a Christian, but i have never wanted the public schools to push ANY religion. I just ask that my kids be allowed their faith just as you would ask that your kids be allowed their beliefs, right? so... maybe I am more tolerant than you? keep religion out of schools by not pushing for any certain religion to be the 'main'... but do not stop students from being 'their belief' in your desire to not see it.
I am a Christian, but i have never attacked a single person... in fact, i have gone to a women's health clinic and I have gotten birth control. I don't have a problem with birth control as long as it is 'pre' conception 'control'. If God wants me to have a baby, then by all means, I will have one whether I wanna use a diaphram or not. I am glad that there are places that women can go... I wish they would do more teaching tho as to what each 'service' is about.
I am a Christian, but i know that no one can force another person to have a belief in Christ if they don't want to. I am pretty sure i have never forced my beliefs upon anyone... but i WILL stand up and defend MY RIGHT to choose Christ when people will condemn me for choosing to make decisions based on how Christ would have me decide. I don't just 'attend a church'... i live my life as Christ would have me live. maybe that is why I don't see myself in any of your biased accusations?
I feed the hungry, I clothe those who have none, and I share 'who' Christ is by being as close as I can to what He would have me be.
Extremists in any given arena is where the problems lie... picking and choosing the most extreme cases of 'unrighteousness' and making them seem mainstream is so 'not real'
the 'westboro baptists' of the world are extremists who make people think that is what a Christian is.... uhhh... NOT!

when we point fingers and assign all blame to one group, we get a never-ending parade of people like you. this tired litany of bashing and blaming only serves as a mirror to bring out the worst in people. you had a bad day with the door-2-door religious people, so you have to spit in everyone's breakfast.
i am a Christian (and no d'amn apologies about it) and i also get the door people. what i prefer to do is, offer them a cold drink if it's a hot day and thank them for their enthusiasm. then i say that it isn't a good time and then i say good-bye. neat, friendly, and not subject to discussion. for those who insist on talky-talky, i say very plainly, "i'm going to close my door now, so you have a blessed day"
i hate it when people like you, fail to grasp that we live in a world that is mean, unfriendly, pushy, aggressive and downright nasty because of...well, people like you.
if you don't like the laws, then get off your double chunks and get them changed! how do you think those laws are being put into place? magic??
as for the clinic bombings? let's see, tim mcveigh ring any bells? your style of reactive ranting and the ranting of others like you, are the cesspool that breeds these domestic terrorists. the fact that you don't believe in God is irrelevant - you are the other side of the same coin...you form the backbone of lazy whiners who love to complain like a broken firehose, yet do NOTHING personally to make positive changes...
