why do we need religions? which is true religion?

if nations in the world go for scientific or historical investigation to find the truth about God .... wont the earth will be peaceful ... if islam is true all of us will follow it .... if christianity is true every one follows that.......instead of war aganist terrorism they should have started with basic question ... which is truth ? comments ...........

That is true we need for God to show us which religion is the truth> If as the bible says Baal is the true God go following him. If Jehovah is the true God go following him.
If Jesus and Jehovah are one and the same tell us so.
You make a very good point?
But he did leave us a book and it says "seek and you will find, ask and it will be opened to you." God would let people know who really did have the right heart condition.
But if tomorrow a spirit creature came down from heaven and said, Okay now we are all going to be Muslim.
The first question what kind of Muslim? Is Fatah or hamas or Sunni or Shiite the right ones? What is the right beliefs?
Or say they came down from heaven and said Christianity was the true religion. Would Muslims convert? No!
Would they then ask Catholics or Protestants?
If protestants out of the 600 different branches witch one?
The only way to find the true religion is to destroy all religion and start over. Which ever one survives the destruction and is here when the devil is gone. That is the true religion.

Religion isn't the same as the Truth! Religion comes from man and the Truth is of God. When man stops trying to put God in a man-made box and let God lead him instead of the other way around, we will finally be on the same page with God and all will be well within His world.

There is only 1 truth and opposing this truth is a hater (Devils) who creates lies and covers up this truth to get personal gain out of it (The Adam and Eve story) The first religion was Islam God asked Adam to do tasks to prepare for a world, he obeyed these tasks and created children so he was in submission to 1 (Islam) Adam was the first Muslim and after he lost his place with god Man stepped into a battle with infidels. I don't think we need religions.

I do think we are spiritual beings, and religion, which are man-made systems, can be a vehicle to express our spirituality and help us move towards spiritual growth.

I don't think we need religion to be spiritual, though.

I don't think any single religion is true because they were all created by people who were just trying to figure out what the Creator of the Universe is, and what they thought the Creator wanted from everyone.

I think all of them have something we can learn from, but the best religion for anyone is the one that works best as a vehicle for spiritual growth. If a person is getting fulfillment out of certain beliefs/practices, and it is impacting them in a positive way, then they have found the true religion for themselves-- that might not be the true religion for someone else.

you need religion because the one who created the universe and created you, created you for a reason.
People are tested by god in this life.
you need the truth religion to worship God which avoid you from worshipping any thing esle, like stone or lust or money and the true religion upgrade or ascend you.
the true religion should help you in this life and after this life.

As far as truth goes:
It'll be a bit tricky to prove which god(s) respectively which interpretations of their being are true unless one of them shows up and saves the Aztecs (if it's Quetzalcouatl), brings Mjolnir (if it's Thor representing Asgard), tells everyone to get their heads out of their butts and just get along (if it's the Christian God) or whatever.

Hey, it might be even trickier if Siddharta Gautama Buddha was right - fat chance of any god(s) showing up to prove a non-theistig religion correct!

Now, as for the need:
Having faith in something is a powerful thing, so it's just natural for humans to find themselves things to have faith in.
