they get accused of "taking verses out of context" but Fundies can quote that one stupid verse in leviticus about gays, while they sit there in their clothing of mixed fibers, with all four limbs intact, and both eyes, having never repented all the times they ate shellfish, while their disobedient son still lives, and that's not taking anything out of context? Is it only taking it out of conext if it clashes with your bigotry?

Fundies pick and choose whatever supports their viewpoint.

Regardless of Foreverset's position, (non-Christians only quote scriptures to trip up the Christians) I have seen countless Jesus quotes cited to bring about an understanding of His true message, only to be rejected by Fundies as "out of context". Your assessment, Endora , is spot on.

I once had a similiar answer to a different question... but some fundie got it deleted. Let's see if it makes it this time.

That's the problem with the Bible. So many have said that it's open to interpretation. Okay... but how exactly do you do that? How long can you go on cherry-picking before you have to acknowledge what you're throwing out? How many verses can you twist the meaning of before you admit that you're making all this up as you go along?

Hello,
Christians and non-Christians alike have taken verses out of context to promote their own agendas. The only way to get the true message of the bible is to study it in its whole. It is also good to study Greek and Hebrew to get it more in depth. Not all Christians are hypocrites or bigots. While I,myself do not agree with the homosexual lifestyle, I do believe that it is none of my business. I am a sinner and I have to answer to God for the things that I have done.

Endora, When an atheist or non Christian uses the Word of God to make their point, they are actually making the case that God's Word the Bible is correct. Why would they do that?
Heres the deal.... you either believe all of it or none of it. there is no grey area. You are either saved or unsaved, good or evil, Godly or un-Godly.

Joshua 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Choose wisely, Cap'n Arlo

It's like here on Yahoo! Answers - When I make an answer or ask a question that differs from another individuals opinion, I get reported or thumbs down.. It's pure immaturity on their part and lack of understanding that others have different ideology's and opinions.

You go, girl! To quote a simple saying that's the pot calling the kettle black. I used to be a fundie. I honestly believed we were right. The deprogramming was fun. Not. But, anyway, you have them dead to rights. Thanks. Peace and love>

Your question is a misnomer--The scripture you refer to in Leviticus is the Levitical Law that was done away with by the grace of God is not applicable to the Christian. There are at least two scripture in the NT that does apply. Thank you for clearing that up.
