My best guess is insecurity. If you can convince people to believe what you believe in, then that is a huge validation of what you believe. Also, if you can bring down the other persons beliefs, then it will make yours look "higher up" in comparison. Someone who is secure in their beliefs is much less likely to feel the need to bash other people for their beliefs or constantly try to make other people believe the same as them.
Now, discussing a different belief or question it is a different thing.

People usually believe what they have been taught and/or what they have experienced.
Usually people want to share that experience with others by expressing their views and inquiring about others' views.
Since the states were based on Christianity, this has been the standard religion of our country.
The religion or "non-religion" that you choose says a lot about who you are as a person. Remember, people are really just a sum of their experiences...

Come on now, get REAL, after all, they are NOT FORCING U TO BELIEVE THEM ARE THEY??? I mean, I don't see a "Check box" that U, (after having answered) can use & it FORCES U TO BELIEVE THE ANSWER!!! Maybe U should be Looking Elsewhere then instead of wasting OUR Time here if Ur so Unhappy??? John

I agree with others-- ego.
Beliefs are subjective, religion is just a man-made tool, and everyone needs to be true to themselves and their hearts and minds and experiences and follow their own paths where they lead.

It is the current monotheist religions of the world that give out hell. Could have gotten along just fine without that quaint little fantasy concept, thank you very much.

there's a one-be conscious description for people who do this. lack of understanding. the only time human beings might desire to be severe of others on a non secular foundation, is that if those others are actively being obnoxious with their faith, in society, or are utilizing it as an excuse to sell agendas that seek for to make different human beings's lives depressing. (E.g., the RRR Cult's agendas that seek for to deprive equivalent rights to gays, or to rigidity females and ladies to gestate UNwasnted prgnancies to term against their will.)

i dont claim a religion and think everyone has their own right to choose who and what they want to follow/my personal belief is when you worship any other god or gods you are worshipping idols and cant be saved and others believe in their own and it causes debates,i dont think there should be harsh words just discussions on why we believe the way we do

because misery loves company. If you feel you must criticize other people for what they believe in then you need to seek your OWN spiritual fulfillment, not worry about whether Joe Bob read his bible today.

I wouldn't care at all, except that some folks want me to live by their beliefs and call me selfish when I resist.
