I understand that you are bothered by people inposing their religion on you, but about the dollar bill, on which it says "In God We Trust". Why do you want to mess with this simple saying? I can understand taking off things like the "God" part in the pledge allegiance. But when it comes to things with history, why can't you leave it be?

I'm not in anyway saying the bible or science is wrong, i'm not a Christian, i don't really know what i believe, i'm just wondering what Christians think about how old the earth is, because in a bible timeline i looks like maybe it could be around 5000 or 6000 years old, but in school you learn about rocks and other things people discover that are millions of years old. And also i always wondered about how the bible doesn't talk about the dinosaur age, i wondered what peoples opinions are about these things. and evolution, but i guess that it didn't happen, my mom is a Christian, i ask her sometimes but she doesn't say much. Thanks.

I have had so many replys to previous questions stating stand still and let God speak to you in a quiet place. I tried that and I don't hear him. What does it feel like. How do you know?

I'm talking about something that would be extremely hard for you to do, something you might even actually tell Him no to at first. If you don't want to share the first thing that comes to mind, you can share the next thing.

If you can't think of anything at all, I pray that something comes along, not to make you feel bad or in "dire pain", but that your faith may be tested. It could just be an Abraham experience where God wants to see if you're at least willing to give it up.

When I was at my cousin's graduation party, I was talking to an intersting man. As we were talking, I saw what looked like smoke come out of his mouth. It was too warm to be frosty breath, and he wasn't smoking. It looked smoky but not like dense smoke, and it moved from the region of his mouth, past his cheek and behind him. I would love to know what it was. I have see this happen once before, and I am puzzled by it.

I am alarmed at the scientific illiteracy, arrogance, ignorance and denial from the religious set. With so many thinking from within an insular bubble of ignorance and bigotry, particularly from within the USA, it is a grave threat to world peace. The nightly news makes this clear.

Appart from peace and tollerance, religion, particularly fundy christianity, also threatens the aquisition of knowledge, and attempts to shut down this pursuit with lies, misrepresentaion, and dishonesty.

I think sewing the seed of thought is the best any scientifically literate person could hope to achieve against such a fiercly ignorant and dangerous secular belief system.

I have been forwarding corrections and clarifications of scientific terms and principles, and although they are immediantely denied, it nevertheless offers the "correct" interpretation of science, so that the "enemy" of religious ignorance may be at least represented properly and correctly..

Will you continue to do this too?

Um, if you could you pause tonight (and every night) to give energy through your goodness and ask for renewed health to important persons here in R&S, to your personal deity (or deities) you follow.
DebraM and SusanJ, and all, needs all the goodness and positive thoughts you can spare, (as do ALL who are in hospitals).
If you care but do not follow a path with a deity - you are more than welcome to hope modern medicine can return these caring people to their families and life style soon. Right?

I do. There's so much proof of it. Though there are many different theories on how evolution occurs, I think it's pretty much a given that it does occur, however, many people close their minds to it because it goes against their religion (which there is no proof of) and it isn't taught in school in many states in the US, which I think is totally fair. Why not let children choose what to believe instead of shield them from what may very well be the truth?

Mu mom said that
i am not going to do anything in life or be something or some one
that I was going to die alone
and that I was probably going to get some sickness.

We had a fight where she mostly yelled saying how I have ADOPTED to much to USA... not in clothes or religion or that matter just thinking because I think that Muslim women are being oppressed by there CULTURE (NOT ISLAM just CULTURE )...........

since Islam puts mother first 3 times before father and if your mom says some thing bad about then it comes true so do you think that I am doomed? for LIFE?

To assert that the earth revolves around the sun is as erroneous as to claim that Jesus was not born of a virgin.

The opposite of a correct statement is a false statement. The opposite of a profound truth may well be another profound truth.

If someone in R&S points out that atheists do good acts of their own accord, not because they are afraid of going to hell, that seems to ruffle a bunch of Christian feathers, and I just don't get it.

Seriously, if they can't invoke a god to do good, would you rather they just all do bad acts instead?

Yes I am singling out Christians because I live in the United States -- the rest of the theists aren't interfering with individual freedom in the US so much as Christians.

The Difference between Deism and other religions like Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, etc is Deism is based on nature and reason, not "revelation." All the other religions (with the possible exception of Taoism, although superstition does play a role in both Buddhism and Taoism) make claim to special divine revelation or they have requisite "holy" books. Deism has neither. In Deism there is no need for a preacher, priest or rabbi. All one needs in Deism is their own common sense and the creation to contemplate.
