I am alarmed at the scientific illiteracy, arrogance, ignorance and denial from the religious set. With so many thinking from within an insular bubble of ignorance and bigotry, particularly from within the USA, it is a grave threat to world peace. The nightly news makes this clear.

Appart from peace and tollerance, religion, particularly fundy christianity, also threatens the aquisition of knowledge, and attempts to shut down this pursuit with lies, misrepresentaion, and dishonesty.

I think sewing the seed of thought is the best any scientifically literate person could hope to achieve against such a fiercly ignorant and dangerous secular belief system.

I have been forwarding corrections and clarifications of scientific terms and principles, and although they are immediantely denied, it nevertheless offers the "correct" interpretation of science, so that the "enemy" of religious ignorance may be at least represented properly and correctly..

Will you continue to do this too?

I almost always correct misconceptions about science, at least the science I know and understand.

Something to consider:
Operational science makes inferences from results of experiments done in the present. There is little room for speculation. Much valuable advances in knowledge have come from operational science.

Origins or historical science is limited because we can't do experiments directly on past events so observations made in the present are used to make inferences about the past. Inferences require some guessing.

Evolutionists and Creationists have the same evidence----its their presuppositions that are different.
And by the way, the evidence fits the Biblical account of creation and the Bible is archeaologically correct.

Christian here, and I don't see the harm in it at all. I don't know why people think religion and science can't mix. I think to a certain degree they can. I mean, I've pondered over quite a bit of scientific things before. I've considered reading Darwin's evolution book. I won't because it's pretty long and I'm not entirely science savvy so I'm scared I won't understand it that well. I've seen some of his concepts/theories and I believe he had grounds for them. They're definitely understandable.

I don't think any religion should be closed-minded to the ways of science. I mean, even if (hypothetically speaking, hear me out) the Christian God does exist (which I do believe He does) and He did create the world, He did set things in motion which are in fact explained by science, so obviously He had some respect for the subject (in my eyes anyway). I would be glad to hear some scientific principles. Count me in. Thank you for trying to educate us, or at least me.

I know that I'm alarmed at the scientific illiteracy, arrogance, ignorance and denial from the evangelical atheist's on here myself.

And your right, the insular bubble of ignorance and bigotry, particularly from the evangelical atheist's within the USA is a grave threat to world peace.

What has Science given us:

1. guns
2. bombs
3. nuclear stuff
4. explosives
5. really neat "Electro-Vibrational" weapons that can: 1. cause explosions at trememdous distances without explosives
2. fry the pants off of another army or population
3. literally vaporize bodys at a distance

And, THOSE Science boys, cannot EVEN make a Corn-Flake that won't get soggy in milk, after a few mintues.
Now what AM I to think?

One DAY, we will be able to use all of that Science Stuff for GODLY STUFF---and that is to "BOLDLY GO WHERE NO MAN HAS GONE BEFORE".
And, we ALL agonna do it Together.

There ain't nothing wrong with Science, what is wrong is the Way it can be used for Evil and Wickedness.
Ditto........I Like Science alot!!!

My question is........how are you going to fit an entire 4 years of high school science into a post. If they don't understand even the basic concept of science how will you teach them the difference between a scientific theory and an intuitive theory?

I believe our ONLY hope is to fix the education system itself.

Yes, I will continue to try and educate people to the best of my ability and to the limits of my understanding.

But doesn't that make you the tool of evil liberal fascist elitists?
I mean, that's what I was told.

Its absolutely maddening, you're right. You should look at the politics section sometime when they're arguing about global warming.
But I don't know if we can do anything about it. They are so afraid of anything knocking down their elaborate sandcastles of belief that they just don't hear you, whether its a philosophical theory, a personal anecdote, or scientific evidence.
And look! A thumb down. What a suprise!

No, I think the solution too the religious problem is too move too another solar system and leave the religious freaks behind. Too open a closed mind I'd suggest an axe or large caliber bullet, information does not work.
