Does this surprise anybody? They have already forsaken Jesus. What are they going to care about guidelines?

Either you're in denial or God has some serious self-esteem issues.

It makes me mad to see how many hate groups use Christianity as an excuse for violence and destruction, "in the name of God". It repells those who might otherwise consider it. Gods people are not haters, and if you think the KKK and others are really Christians, they're not. God wouldn't instruct his people to kill their brothers and sisters because they are a different race. He made us all. (was watching a thing on the "Klan" on the history channel that got me thinking about it)
Anyone who has hate in their heart towards someone,( just like the shiites are doing now), aren't following the teachings of Jesus.

What I think is that there is something in our mind that tells us that something bad is happening and that most people at some level worry themselves to death. I think that we connect pain to our fears.

When you think about what God ultimately wants to do for us where is the bad that we think that is happening to us?

I keep hearing Christians say no one is perfect. That being a Christians is a process. The scripture teaches that Christ is our head; and if Christ is our head; then Christ leads us to sin

2For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

3For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

4That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

5For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

6For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

7Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

8So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

I nevr listen to opera and dont like it but a friend sent me a video of an ordinary looking man singing opera. The female judge looked like she was going to jump up and kiss him and I also felt this very sensual feeling as if his gift was what attracted me 2 him. Am I right that God has made us as women attracted to a man not onlu 4 his looks but for his talents ? It made me feel that at tymez looks can almost be inconsequential when it comes to attraction to a man when he is filled with talent or gifts.

Im 18 and up to now I have been only attracted to boyz with surfboards, s8terz and lean and buff bodies ( and spikey hair). Now Im wondering if I have been shallow in my thinking.

I am sorry if any of my questions came off as mocking or making fun of what you believe. That's not my intent. I was genuinely curious about some of this stuff when doing my own research on the Church. Right now, I am technically LDS, a convert since April 8th 2006 and still active. However so many questions and descrepencies have arose lately when doing my own further research on questions I was never able to get answers for from Church members. I am not trying to change your mind about your religion, nor am I trying to bash it. I have a lot of respect for LDS people and their way of life. I know there is a lot of truth in the Church, I just don't believe that it's THE ONE and ONLY true church anymore. There are so many things they never told me in my missionary lessons that I found out on my own. I am still happy to have found the Church, there is no denying how much of a part it played in helping me get on a better path. I hope you accept my humble apologies and God Bless!

Is it your parents? Your children? Your spouse? What makes your life so meaningful that even in the worst of circumstances, you would pull through if you needed inspiration and that which gave you meaning was that inspiration? In a world so full of hatred and ignorance, don't you think it's time to stop fighting over disagreements and give peace an effort? And to those in the Western world and the Middle East, the first being what I am from, why is it so hard for you to just live and let live? All religions preach peace as the main message, and everyone does differ in opinion, but is that any reason to kill for? Who is with me on voting to put down the weapons, erase hatred from the heart, and say loudly "We won't accept this. You must stop. The children are suffering, don't teach them this drama!" Are you?

As someone who studies religions all the time, and has a BA in Religious Studies, I am wondering if I have lost sight of which words are specialized, and which ones everyone knows. I was chastised last night on here for using the word "proselytize" and I was rather taken aback by that. So, just tell me honestly, do you know the meaning of the following words, without having to look them up?

1. Proselytize
2. Eschatology
3. Apocalyptic Prophet
4. Monotheism
5. Orthodoxy
6. Canon
7. Pluralism
8. Exclusivism
9. mantra
10. karma
11. nirvana

Don't be embarassed if you don't know them all. I just need honest answers. I assume some will know them all, and maybe some won't. It's ok!

And if not, why do you copy and paste? Do you trust someone else will be able to say 'it' better?

Are you doing this at the expense of your developing your own faculties of reasoning?

Don't you feel like you're cheating yourself or are you happy to regurgitate ideas and claim them as your own, or merely to be applauded for being able to find the 'right' quotation to match the moment?

What if it doesn't appear so 'right' to others. Can you conceive that your ability to 'match' quotes to questions (for this is what it is at its simplest level) may be flawed?.

It reminds me of English Literature classes where people tried to revise for exams by learning essays that they could apply to any question. Many of these students got poor marks for 'failing to read the question' i.e. answering a question that wasn't asked. One that THEY wanted to answer.
