I nevr listen to opera and dont like it but a friend sent me a video of an ordinary looking man singing opera. The female judge looked like she was going to jump up and kiss him and I also felt this very sensual feeling as if his gift was what attracted me 2 him. Am I right that God has made us as women attracted to a man not onlu 4 his looks but for his talents ? It made me feel that at tymez looks can almost be inconsequential when it comes to attraction to a man when he is filled with talent or gifts.

Im 18 and up to now I have been only attracted to boyz with surfboards, s8terz and lean and buff bodies ( and spikey hair). Now Im wondering if I have been shallow in my thinking.

"Is this right what I felt as I listened to this man..it was almost sensual? "

Accurate description. He certainly did one of my favorite songs justice.

Seriously, you should listen to more opera. Speaking as someone who winds up basically perving on the baritones everytime she goes to one, you'd be surprised how sexy opera actually can be. Not just in the normal "sex and violence" plotline way, but...well, you heard the crescendos; when they really put feeling into it, it's like they're flinging a little piece of their soul into the audience.

I'm sure I'll get jumped on for this, but, as an Atheist it's the closest I've ever been to what Christians seem to feel in church; though I imagine on a more "worldly" level. If that makes sense.

I think it means that your thinking is maturing. You've hit on something really interesting - the fact that sensuality can come from other qualities than looks.

Opera is one of the most sensuous arts on earth, by the way. It is all about beauty. Not all opera singers are conventionally good-looking, but some of them just project sensuality. If you want to see more of what you described, go to youtube and see the videos of Shadi Torbey, Dimitri Hvorostovsky, and Andrea Bocelli. (Bocelli actually has little appeal for me, but there are many women who are wild for the man.)

To hear the same thing from a woman, listen to Fiorenza Cossotto in "Samson et Dalila" - they've got a video of her doing the big seduction scene (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dx68wBvVJw). She's got the same thing, bigtime, as well as one of the most beautiful voices ever. She was over sixty when she outsang that hunky young tenor who was her Samson there.

Thanks for a chance to answer a really good question!

Actually, the older you get, your values change. It is normal for a teenager to see beauty/looks as important. The older you get, the mind and heart of someone becomes more important.

Usually, girls will tend to look to the heart of a man before a guy looks that way at a girl (we are a visual sort). This is probably why some ugly guys get some good lookin' wives.

Enjoy your life, just the way God gives it to you.

Marilyn Monroe was considered a sex symbol in the 1960's. When asked who she thought the sexiest man was, she replied, "Albert Einstein".

We are attracted to other people for many reasons, but the least important reason is looks, because they are subjective, and because they are temporary.

Everyone is attracted to God. God is the most wealthy, the most intelligent, the most talented, the most famous, the most beautiful. When we see a person who is extraordinarily talented or intelligent, we are attracted to his qualities that are god-like.

seems about right. every time in the Bible that I've seen someone fall for someone solely on looks, a problem arose.

you're not necessarily shallow for attraction, just in terms of if you've actually had relationships with all those types because of looks alone

It works like that too. Some people just have some awesome talents that make them attractive. Guys personalities are very attractive if they are the right guy for you. Looks really aren't everything.

women generally look much deeper than men as they need a man who will be a good father and support them. yes just looking at body and face is shallow.
