... from people like Paul just to claim a New Testament scriptural canon of any size? That is weak.
When Thomas Jefferson edited the "Jefferson Bible," he ignored everything but the first four books. Makes sense.

so the abrahamic god can't be the only one.

so why is it that the pagan gods don't mind if you don't worship them, but this one does? why is this one in such need of human worship? the other gods don't seem to care too much about humanity. is this god a bit of an outcast in the world of gods and needs to find acceptance somewhere else?

It is a fact of life. We now have many Christian Scientists.

Cosmologists have pressed the button regarding who's running the universe. There are three choices:

1. The universe itself

2. Humankind

3. GOD

It would seem logical that most scientists will make their choice on the basis of factors other than pure logic.

Their have been Scientists like Sir James Jeans(Physicist and Mathematician) whose formulas led to our modern theories of galaxy formation,

He said: " We discover that the universe shows evidence of a designing or controlling power that has something in common with our own individual minds,,,"

The mysterious of the Universe p.9.

In his book, The philosophical Scientists, David foster says: that the old "chance" position is now "Replaced by a new idea of specificity in the universe, with the inevitable implication that GOD EXISTS."

Let's say that the Bible is (as it appears to be) the work of fallible human beings, talking about their experiences and their faith in fallible and at times inaccurate ways, but accurately enough to point us in the direction of the God they worship and who has changed their lives. Why must so many Christians say that you must either accept the whole thing as inerrant or dismiss the whole thing as fairy tales? If we applied the same criterion to Christians' testimonies about their faith and experience today, everything would have to be dismissed, since we are clearly fallible humans (even if not always willing to admit it). Why not forget fighting the already long-lost battle about inerrancy and instead focus on doing what the Biblical authors did, i.e. using inadequate human language to point to our experience of transcendence, which will by definition be inadequate but will hopefully point in the right direction?

If the Holy Spirit is a person, as some believe, how can we be filled with the Holy Spirit. A "person" cannot enter us and fill us!!
If the Holy Spirit is a Spirit sent to us from God, we can be filled with the Holy Spirit.
Which do you feel is the truth, and why...
use Scriptures to prove your point, if you can.
Thanks...

People of religion do it to God, Christ, Muhamed etc. But people of no religion have the same sort of commitments, feelings for and unreasonable passion about other things... I've listened to people talk about cars etc as if it was some sort of a God they would be willing to lay their life down for.

"Perhaps the best measure of LDS Church growth is the rate of new church units, such as wards (congregations) and stakes (like a diocese). Because they are staffed by volunteers, such units cannot function without enough active members.
'You can use these trends to say that the percentage is slowing, the numbers have leveled off or they are dropping. They tell us what is happening right now,' Heaton says. 'But to try and tell us about the future is risky business. What if all of a sudden China or India lets us in and the [missionary] work takes off?' "

There seems to be so much hatred of The Church these days. Several major bestselling books have been released in the past few years that try to 'debunk' God, and cast doubt on everything spiritual. Indeed, there seems to be hatred of all religions these days.

Some of the critisism of the Christian chruches is well founded. There have been many abuses of children, a lot of fraud, and deceit. But these things have always happened in any human institution. People blame the church for everything these days - for past wars, rascism, violence. But I think that these things - while terrible in the past - would have been the same or even worse in the abscence of Christianity!

Along with the persecution of the Church today there continues to be rampant consumerism and greed, idolatry and lust.

What does all this tell you? Could we be living in the end times?

I asked a question last night about some atheists just assuming that Christians HATE gays and atheists. (I do not assume all gays are atheists--for clarification).

I was a bit shocked when one person said that you cant wish to change someones heart (lead them to conversion) without looking down on them and hating them.....

I just do not see it that way. I genuinely do not think I hate anyone.....
